Can the experts please let me know if RNY's have drains in when they go home? I don't even know what drains are or what they are for but someone along the way mentioned it and I just want to know~ My vote is no, by the way, I don't want them

Hi, I have Dr. Ryder as well for a doc and she never even mentioned drains to me. I just went home with the incisions (that was enough) and nothing else. Good Luck!!

I had my surgery on May 6th.  I had a drain while in the hospital, but it was taken out the morning I went home.   They just put gauze over the incision and I was fine.  Good Luck! Amy

Hi, I have Dr. Pohl. He said I will have a drain in until the day I go home from the hospital when he will take it out. I don't mind. It help with the swelling and recovery period. Jules

Same doc, no drains. I had gauze over my tiny incisions.  For about a wk., some leaked copiously, so I wore one of my hubbies t-shirts close to my skin.
