When you get older, you realize it's a lot less about your place in the world but your place in you. It's not how everyone views you, but how you view yourself. - Natalie Portman
I'm glad you will be seeing the nutritionist Thursday. It's one of the most important appointments you'll need for post op.
As always...we'll always be helpful on this board but everyone must follow their doctors rules. If a problem should arise...it will be dealt with by you and your surgeon. That's why it's so important to follow your doctors orders. We can only guide and help you. Trust me when I say you WILL NOT be able to sleep on your belly. I too am a belly sleeper and due to that I got very little sleep for awhile. Because my band slipped a couple of weeks ago..I had to have the surgery twice. Sleeping was no better the 2nd time. I did heal quicker the 2nd time because my port was never touched and that is the most sensitive area you'll have post op. Ask your surgeon what you can take to help you sleep. While in the hospital recently...they gave me Benadryl through IV to help me sleep. When I came home I used the Benadryl quick disolve strips. It didn't help me sleep all night but it helped get a few hours of deep sleep. Being nervous is understandable. The best thing to do is make lists! I had to do this. I even made a list for what I will bring to the hospital with me because I didn't want to forget anything due to nerves. You'll need liquids when you come home. Chicken/beef broth, jello, sugar free drinks and sugar free popsicles. You'll most likely be on that for the 1st week. Every surgeon / nutritionist is different. Your day is almost here!
I should of added this... If you take care of yourself post op...you should be able to sleep on your belly 1-2 weeks later. What I mean by taking care of yourself is no lifting and no physical activities. When you go to stand on your feet from a sitting position of any kind...use a pillow to press againt your stomach. This will help with causing any added belly soreness. This along with proper diet rules will help you heal quicker.
