brand new!
Hi Chrissie,
I wish I could help you but you're ahead of me. I haven't received a date yet. Are you having Lapband or RNY? You will get a LOT of support on this Forum! There is a support group meeting tonight at Roger Williams Hospital in Providence. It starts and end promptly 6pm - 7:30 pm. It's for anyone who is considering, having or have had any type of WLS. You may get some answers there. If you aren't able to attend tonight, there is another one at Rhode Island Hospital the first Wednesday each month! There are also other forums on ObesityHelp.com where you can get some answers as well. Welcome aboard! Jules

Thank you so much for the welcome i am having lapband surgery and it took me so long to get here and now i cant believe its so close i am so glad i found this website it seems like a great place and already answered so many of my questions i cant wait and good luck to you on getting your date soon!!!
Congrats on your surgery date and welcome. This board is a great place to ask just about any question you could think of- we have probably asked it already, or are thinking it. In you getting ready for surgery, make sure you have your vitamins and suppliments. Your protien sources and cupboards stocked with what is on your nutrition plan for the first 2 weeks. Saves you the hassle of stressing about it later.
Depending on your surgery, and your Dr will be how long you stay in the hospital. I had lapband and stayed overnight. Some Dr's do lapband as an outpatient procedure. With the RNY, I think with most dr's you are there 2-3 days.
yeah actually i do have a question???... I sleep on my stomach it is the only way i can fall asleep without some kind of medication to help knock me out. Can you sleep on your stomach after having the lapband surgery, i would like to know if i should ask the dr for something to help me till i can if i cant
thanks for the help

I am 5 1/2 weeks out, and still can't sleep on my port side- but I think it is just a psycholgical thing with me- I am so afraid to screw up my port. I have heard from other that they were sleeping on thier stomachs within a week. You will probably be a bit sore to attempt it prior to that. I am a side sleeper, but slept at a 45 degree angle (partially sitting up) for the first few days. It made getting up and moving easier for me, because I had no idea how much you use your stomach muscles for in sitting, standing, etc
