how long did you wait to switch to puree?

I'm post-op RNY just about a week out, and I was just wondering when people switched over to puree.  For some reason I have three diet guides from my nutritionist.  One says three weeks out, another says the third day out ok, and the other one says a week.  I've decided my nutritionist is kind of all over the place, so if anyone can give me a good referral I would appreciate it!

Hi Manda! Congrats on being on the loser's bench! Great question! I'm still pre-op but Dr. Pohl is my surgeon too. In the seminar booklet he hands out it says "Usually 2-3 weeks after discharge from the hospital".  I hope this helps! Jules

Speak to your surgeon if your nut is confusing you. You might want to find a new nutritionist also. Make sure you get your answer before you make any choices that could cause some damage.

Good luck!

Hello ... As always, surgeons/nutritionists all have different guidlines.  I had my surgery at UMass Memorial hospital in Worcester, MA.  I am currently 5 weeks post-op.  I had to be on a full liquid diet for 3 weeks, which consisted of sugar free carnation instant breakfast and clear liquids.  I was able to start the pureed stage at 3 weeks post-op.
