Did anyone see tonight's (Sunday) 60 mintutes ?
My daughter called me and told me there was a piece on 60 mintues tonight regarding Gastric by pass. I watched it and wow are we lucky........It seems that Gastric by pass is a "cure" for diabeties. Everyone that was interviewed had diabeties and went off meds..(some of them) within 4 days of their operation. It has to do with connecting the pouch to the small intestine and by passing all the rest of the intestines. Another doctor in Brasil has done some rnys on found that even patients that are not obese that have this operaiton cure their diabeties. Also, rnys cut most cancers by half. I say to all of us that have had rnys Horray for us....our life spans have increased dramatically.

Yes, we are very fortunate! This is the best damn thing one can do for their health!
I had my annual physical on Friday and I am now in perfect health! No more high blood pressure, cholesterol (from 210 to 140), sugar level low (was increasing yearly - boarder lined for diabetes 1), iron level and all vitamin levels are great!
The Doctor didn't even know it was me when I walked by his office! He wants me to speak to other patients about the RNY and I told him I would be more than happy to!
Hi Everyone,
I have been going back and forth about the RNY. I was approved in January of this year by BC/BS and was given my list of tests to get done. I put them off as I was trying to figure out if the risks were worth it. I have since decided to leave it in God's hands and started the testing. I have my sleep study on May 4th, my nutritionist this Thursday and then just have the pre-op blood work, chest x-ray, and EKG to get done. I knew that 60 Minutes was doing the segment so I made sure to watch it. I am now so excited about the benefits of this surgery!! I am still nervous but have found peace with my decision. I hope and pray to be as lucky as all of you!
