So I went for my follow up wtih sleep doc - I wake up 22 times per hour and my level is set to 12!!!! No wonder I fall asleep all the time.  Went the same day for my blood work and made my appointment with Dr. Roye.  I was a little discouraged becuase he is taking some time off and I cannot see him until May 5th, which is not that far away, but I was really hoping it woudl be sooner.  I really need to have this surgery in the last week of May and I'm hopeful that that will still happen.  the secretary said that he can usually schedule you within a month of the visit with him, so I am very hopeful. My question is about the post op diet.  When I see him will I be getting info on what I can eat when I get home, when to change to different foods, etc, what eating will be like long term?  Guess I'm just getting a little antsy.  I've waited so long for this, and now that it is around the corner, my mind is spinning.

Have you seen the nutritionist?  That was where I got my post op diet.  I think if you are having the RNY you go to a "bariatric bootcamp" before your surgery.  I think the post op diet is discussed there.  I was also visited by the nutritionist in the hospital to go over the post op diet one more time, make sure it was fresh in my mind and to see if I had any questions. Congrats on getting all your testing done!  You will be there soon!!

I went to the nutritionist as part of my pre-surgery testing.  But I was pretty disappointed. She seemed not to know much about the surgery and the diet, but almost wanted to try to talk me about of it??????? It was a very odd meeting.  I even asked her if there were any books that she could recommend and she couldn't???  When I asked her about all of this she said that they would give me all the info at Dr. Roye's office, but I don't seem to get much info there either.  I can certainly figure things out on my own, but I was just expecting something different, especially from the nutritionist.  it seemed almost like a test and an overview of everything that could go wrong instead of what could possibly go right. Oh well - Just had to vent!! Thanks

I saw Robin Vales and she was incredible!!   I also recommend the book Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies- has a lot of good recipes. I have 2 copies of the Lapband post op diet, not sure which surgery you are having, but if it's lapband, you are welcome to one of them!  I certainly know how stressful it gets when you are trying to prepare everything in advance.
