Vitamins
Hi! Vitamins are SO important, ask away! Here is what I take:
Calcium Citrate - RNY patients need calcium citrate, not carbonate. I get my calcium from 2 different places. I buy Bariatric Advantage Cinnamon Losenges from Bariatric Advantage online. Each losenge is 200 mg, so I take 3 per day (they taste great)
My second calcium citrate is UpCal D which I also get online. It comes in individual packages and each package is 500 mg, I take 2 per day. You pour it into your drink or protein shake or on food. It dissolves and is tasteless.
Multi-Vitamin - I use Centrum Chewables Orange flavor.
Iron - Target brand swallowable - its a tiny pill. In order for Iron to be absorbed properly, you must take it with Vitamin C or a swig of citrus juice (which isnt always an option for RNY Patients) I take this with a chewable Vitamin C that I get from GNC
B12 - Sublingual 1000 mcg from GNC
B-Complex - swallowable from CVS Nature Made brand
B1 - swallowable from CVS Nature Made brand (not many people take B1, I take it because the blood test to check your B1 levels is VERY expensive and sometimes insurance doesnt cover it so it doesnt get checked. B vitamins are water soluable so you cant OD on them. Most Dr's will just tell you to take the B1 anyways because it cant hurt.)
I hope this helps. As always, follow your Dr's advice, but be sure to do your own research, it is your health after all!
