Hypo-glycemic?

Lately I've noticed that about an hour after I eat anything I get this "swoosh" feeling and I feel very weird.  Almost tingly in my arms and hands and I cant concentrate.  This is happening right now, so if this doesnt make sense, thats why...  anyways, I bought a blood sugar monitor and have been testing my sugar when this happens, but there is no consistant number.  Today it was 121, then for the heck of it, I tested it again about 10 minutes later and it was 74.  That seems like a big drop in 10 minutes...but here is my question...  what is the normal blood sugar number?  Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks for your help.  Again, if this makes no sense, I'll be back later, after the "swoosh" to edit. Laura

70-120 is about normal range Laura, but I would call Dr Giovanni and let her know whats happening. I had problems with my blood sugar dropping pre-op and almost passed out a few times but then I was still on my Metformin at the time and wasnt getting enough calories in.  Call Dr G....please.

Thanks Angela.  I just called my PCP and I have an appointment set up for that.  She has about 25 RNY Patients so she is pretty familiar with "us".  I also have an appointment with Dr G at the end of May, I called to see if I could get it moved up, but she is on vacation, so no go on that.   The current "swoosh" is over, thank God, but now its time for me to eat so I know its going to happen again.  I have my Blood Sugar tester ready. If you tell them whats happening Dr Pohl will call you back, I got a call once from Dr G on the weekend when Dr Pohl wasnt on, they are great in working together.  When are you going to see your PCP?

Hi Jules!  Like I just told Angela, my "swoosh" is over now, but its time for me to eat, so who knows whats going to happen. I hope its not a lack of B12, I already take 2 sublingual at 1000 mcg a day...  Thanks for your help... you are always there when I need you! Laura

Hey LB,  I'm diabetic and usually when you eat your sugar goes UP, not down.  Have you tested it before you eat?  Then compare than to an hour after you eat.  Keep track of the numbers for your doc appt.  That will help.  Yes, that drop seems very dramatic.

I so understand that feeling!!   And as weird as this sounds- you may want to talk about it with your therapist too.  It might be a type of panic attack about food.   (I know it sounds really bizarre- but if the Dr finds nothing, bring it up in therapy) ok- enough of my weird 2 cents

Hey LB,

Sorry to hear what's going on.  I have not experienced that so I'm not able offer any advice.  Prayerfully, your PCP can assist and things will be ok.

Robin
