ugh- can't take this stuff anymore.  It turns my stomach everytime I have to drink it.  Can anyone recommend some decent tasting protien mixes.  I have been dreading shakes the last 2 days, and know I am lacking on getting protein in.  I am going shopping tomorrow and would love suggestions please!

Well , my suggestion would be to keep the vanilla...and get some sugar free syrups to change the flavor up. I was at Home goods last night and picked up some Davinci White Chocolate and  french vanilla.  I've also gotten Kahlua, blueberry, pomegranite, butter toffee, and about 10 other flavors at various places. Try Christmas Tree Shop, TJ Maxx, Home Goods.....and look in the gourmet foods. I've had pretty good luck finding the sugar free syrups when I really look. I've found caramel and hazelnut at Stop and Shop.  Mixing the flavors together can give you some really great flavors as well. It beats a boring vanilla protein shake any day, and its GREAT in Greek Yogurt as well.  Another idea is use fresh fruits or a little peanut butter to flavor the shakes. Get creative, Vanilla can be made into soooo many other great flavors.

Yup, syrups.  Also at Marshall's. Try mixing with fresh/frozen fruit.  Also try flavored soy milks.  You can also throw in some peanut butter.  There are lots of recipes out there. Check your pantry.  Flavorings also work & various spices; e.g., nutmeg, cinnamon, coffee, etc.  Try adding yogurt and add some sugar free or light jam/preserves. You can also add a few tsp. of pudding mix. Try some nuts. In my local health food store I can buy individual packets of various flavors.  That way I can try them out. They are also useful when I'm out of the fruit, etc., or just want to change things up. They are all yucky.  It's the imagination you add.  Sometimes it works & sometimes no luck.

Tomorrow I can start adding the peanut butter, fruit etc.  I can't wait.  That was part of the reason I got vanilla- figured it was a good base to add so many different flavors to.  I have had some other shakes that weren't so bad (though can't remember any names).  I don't know what it is about this one- but I think I may go back to my unflavored protien from GNC

Hey Alexia,

I know what you mean.  My Nutr. gave me a list to help me add spice to my vanilla protein drink.   I tried the dream-cicle(sp) You mix diet, caffiene free orange soda w/vanilla protein mix.  It was pretty good.   Just be sure the diet soda is flat.  Hope this helps.

I went back to the vitamin shoppe today and told them about the situation.  I told him I wanted to try different types and not break the bank also.  He brought me back to the wall with all the different types on it, showed me one which was 1/2 the calories, more protien in 1/2 the serving size, and comes in (what he said) were really great tasting flavors.  I got vanilla again- though they had all sorts of flavors- including fruit ones.  It is syntrax nectar sweets- vaniila bean torte flavor.  Only 90 calories, 23g protien, 0 fat, and is from the same whey protien isolate as the other one.  I was told it is a much easier to absorb protien.  I will let you know how it tastes. I also got one of those beaker looking things of new whey liquid protien RTD in fruit punch.  It has 42 g of protien, and was a bit too much like drinking liquid jello for me.  I drank it- seemed too much money for it, but got my protien in- so I won't complain- too much at least.

I love Gold Standard 100% Whey. I have the vanilla ice cream and chocolate. Both are really good.  I actually enjoy them, they are like treats for me.
