but it didn't work for some odd reason.   I was banded on April first and I'm down  21 lbs from when I first saw Dr. Roye in December.  I'm not in too much pain, some shoulder pain from the gas but I expected it.  I can just about give myself the shot and then I get faint.  I had no idea I would be giving myself shots. How long does it take for the swelling to go down? How long till all the gas moves out of your body? I am so swollen I am waddling around like I'm nine months pregnant.

Hi Jamie congrats!  How long do you have to do these shots?  The swelling will go down over time - probably a couple of weeks to go down completely, same for the gas.  Just keep walking..

the more you walk, the more the gas moves out.  Mine took about a week.  Walk, sip and heating pad if it gets too bad.  Fortunately I was done with the shots when I left the hospital- though I nearly passed out when she told me she was going to give me one.  Did you stay overnight? Congrats on the 21 lbs gone!!

I had a week of shots to do, two per day.  Now I'm down to two days, I dropped two of the needles and had to toss them. Ooops. I'm nervous for tomorrow night and Monday because I won't have anyone around when I have to do the shots.  I did stay overnight. I've been walking a lot and using the heating pad. When its really bad I also use gas-x thin strips, but I'm not sure if they hel*****t.  I guess I just need to let it run its course.  How long were you on clear liquids for? The hospital said one week and my nutritionist said I could start full liquids the day after.  I have been going by the hospital's instructions but I was curious to know what your post-op diet was like.

I have Dr Roye also.  The gas ex strips don't help the pain, because it isn't the kind of gas in your stomach really that is casuing the pain.  It is gas pumped into you to make more room for the surgery.  It just has to get absorbed back into your system from what I understand. My nutritionist told me one week clears, one week fulls, 2 weeks muchies, and 2 weeks soft food.  I was going mad I think by the end of my clears week, but thank god it is over.  It was amazing how good the cream of wheat tasted on day one of full liquids. Speedy recovery to you!!

Not sure if the diet is different between Lap Band and Bypass.  I had Dr. Roye and I was told I could have full liquids when I left the hospital.  I had a pudding the day I came home.  I ate a lot of cream soup, it was yummy!!!  I also would get a small Chili from Wendy's and blend it, OMG__SOOOO GOOD!!  That would last me for like 3 meals. Good Luck to you! Jen

Claudia,  wow I think I don't think I would have ever made it a whole month.  Did the shots give you black and blues too? I have about 14 tiny black and blue  marks at the injection sites and then one from the hospital which is about 3 inches all around. It's very pretty. No one is seeing my belly yet anyways. I wonder why some folks get shots, some don't and then the length of time is different? I figured it was because of one of the meds I am on, it can cause blood clots.

Hi, Yes I was very black and blue. But i guess from what my dr said one of my tests showed I was prone to clotting so I had to take them to protect myself. I sure didn't want clots so I did it. But i sure was glad when i put in that last needle. Good Luck to you. Claudia
