What would you do??

I wouldn't do it. That last meal could engorge your liver, leading to the surgery being changed from laproscopic to open. You have been eating this food your entire life, a few months without it will not kill you. Your friends are selfish, knowing you are having surgery for weight loss. You will be able to have some of this food after surgery, just in smaller amounts.

Well, we had a great dinner party!  I stuck to my diet which wasn't hard to do at all.  When I thought about what I would have wanted as a last meal-- it was vegetarian enchiladas.   I can definitely have something like that a few months after surgery :o)  I don't feel like I'm losing anything (except weight!).   I don't think my friends were being selfish btw, I think they were trying to be supportive. They made it clear that they could cook food that sticks to my diet, and that is what they did.  I think they wanted me to have a social gathering out and about before my recovery time.   It was entirely thoughtful, don't you think? :o)   Thanks for everyone's thoughts!!  It's so nice having this support.
