'Old' Stomach questions...
I posted this on the RNY Forum but I have come to trust my friends here on the RI Forum. Here goes...Okay, I know the 'old' stomach still serves a purpose because the gastric juices still come into contact with the food where the 'Y' junction is. I also know there is no way to view the 'old' stomach because there is no longer an accessible opening. My question(s) are....(A) What happens if I get an ulcer in the 'old' stomach? Can they see this on ultrasound? How do they treat it? (B) Do you still get hunger pangs in the 'old' stomach? (C) Does the 'old' stomach shrink at all since there is no more stretching from eating? Thanks for your time! Jules

Hi Jules! I dont have all the answers but here is what I do know! I do not have any hunger pangs in any of my stomachs (lol)! The old stomach still makes noises and gurgles once in a while but that is just when it is working, it makes noises when it is making the juices and digesting the food. As far as I know, the old stomach doesn't shrink, but I guess it would make sense if it did since we aren't using and abusing it anymore.
Hope this helps!
