WLS Groups
I have been looking for a group to attend. I noticed that there are two. One at RIH and one at Miriam. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two are? I'm not sure which to go to, or to go to both.
I will be completed with all testing next week and do not have a date yet to meet wtih Dr. Roye.
Thanks all!
Hi! Welcome to the RI Board, I havent seen you on here before!! I have never been to the Miriam or RIH support groups, but there is one at Roger Williams on the 4th Thursday of every month that most of us attend. It is all open forum and people are free to ask whatever they want. Please come next time!
Hope to see you there!

Hello! Welcome! I go to all the local meetings. RIH is the 1st Wednesday each month at the Gerry House building. It starts as a topic meeting then opens up to discussion about anything we want to ask/discuss or talk about. Miriam's meeting is the 4th Tuesday of each month. This is also a topic meeting then opens to discussion. The other is at Roger Williams. It's the 4th Thursday every month and is completely discussion. All the meetings are 6pm to 7:30pm (with an added 1/2 hour at 5:30pm at Miriam for LapBand people). We are welcome to bring someone with us who support us too! I like that.I love all of them but tend to favor the RW one because there are more OH (Obesity Help) people who go there and my surgery will be at RW. Not everything everyone says is what we need or want. I just take what I need and leave the rest. I really enjoy meeting people who are or once were in my shoes. It doesn't matter who does our surgery. We're in this together! Happy Friday! Jules

Welcome! You will love Dr Roye!! When I met with the nutritionist, she gave me the schedule of the support group at RIH. I have not yet been able to attend it, but have heard wonderful things and they have some great topics! Dr Pohl, and the other surgeons who operate out of Roger Williams have a support group there also. I was able to make part of a meeting there, great people, open forum. I haven't heard about the one at Miriam, other than it has a group for lapband also, which appeals to me, but too hard to get there at that time. I guess which one you go to depends on you. Try each one, see what fits for you- even if it is all of them.
Good luck!!
