That was my exact same thought pattern, hubby's objections too.  It took me a long time to get him behind the band..

I had my first sleep study last week.  I was called the next day wtih the results telling me that I had apnea.  I went for another study last friday night, and have to wait for my follow up next week wtih the sleep center.  Then you can go for your blookwork and get your appointment.  I am wondering how long it takes from the time I see the sleep doc next week to actually get a surgery date.  All my testing is done!!!!! I too was unsure about my decision of lap band, but for some reason I just know that it is the right thing for me.  Hard to explain, especially when docs ask me why one over the other, but i just know that that is what's right for my body.

Alexia - that information on the scheduling was so helpful - thanks! I will make my follow up with Dr. Roye and have my blood work on thursday after I leave the sleep Doc.   I was hoping for a date in the last week of May.  It is very, very hard for me to take any time off from work for any reason, so I had to wait until spring break in March and did all my testing that week.  My last day of work is around May 28th so if I could have it that week it woudl be great! What  has your recovery been like? By the way congratulations - You are doing amazing!!!!! Jen

By 3 days out I was pretty good, just a bit sore and tired.  By 5 days I was good.  Out and about. My only restrictions are still lifting and exercise (walking is fine).  I get up more slowly still, and picking up things from the floor...only if I really need to.  I am also worried about everything healing in the right place and the band not moving, slipping, or flipping- which I probably why I am still babying myself a bit. My follow up is Monday.  Can't wait- and thanks!!

From the day of your last test (say you call right on your way home from the bloodwork- or even better- go make the apt in person, since you are right there anyway...) they schedul you at least 2 weeks out, this allows to make sure they have all the test results in hand for your apt.  Dr Roye will meet with you, you bring up any concerns, questions, etc.  At this apt he asked me when I would like to have my surgery- I told him ASAP, and went in for it 12 days later.  Still recovering and doing great!!  I am very happy with my new band!

Dr. Royes office does not call you with the sleep study results, The sleep center should have told you if you have apnea or not.  I hope you advised Dr Roye's office you chaned your mind, as they need to requalify you with the insurance company, which can be a very big PITA. if you know what I mean.  DO NOT DO A LAST MEAL. The more fat you eat, the larger your liver gest, the larger the liver, the more likely he will need to convert from laproscopic to open. Also, you will eventually be able to eat that food again in smaller amounts. It is not worth it.
