am I just being really paranoid?

ok- so I am holding a pillow on my lap every time I sit or lay down.  I am terrified someone or something is going to fll on my stomach.  Not sure if part of is has to do with my cat and huskies- they all love to jump on my lap- even though most of em don't fit on there.  It is this weird security blanket kinda thing.  Hopefully I get over it soon.

I dont think you're being paranoid Alexia, a pillow is actually a good tool for you to use when you get up or down and also if you have to cough right after surgery holding a pillow will help you from stretching too much.  I think its whatever makes you comfortable and I know how huskies can be, they are so loveable!  Give it a few days and you'll not need it any more, but if it makes you more comfortable right now, I say go for it!

Hey Alexia,

I am the same way, right now.   I am constantly guarding my stomach.   I guess after my 6 weeks I won't feel I need to be as guarded.

The pillow is a GREAT idea.  They used to market bear pillows just for this, but no longer.  Keep on using it as long as you want!

So use your pillow Guilt Free!

I hear you...my cat actually avoided me for about 2 weeks after my surgery.  In this case, better safe than sorry...

I am using it to help support me as I get up also.  Had hubby bring it in the car for my ride back from the hospital.  It went between the seatbelt and me.  It hasn't left my side- kinda like my cat, though he doesn't try and jump on my stomach anymore, just curls on my legs.

Roger Williams gave me a blanket that was taped up and they wrote"hug me"on it. I hugged that thing all the way to the recliner. I think I still have it. It works great even now, if I'm too gassy or bloated feeling. My cats was my protector the week after my surgery, she sat on the arm of my chair while I was in it. If I went any where else she would sit in the doorway. It was so cute!

The pillow esp helps if god forbid I have to cough.  I am still a bit congested feeling if I am up for long periods, no clue why, but oh well.  If that is the worst of recovery- so be it. And yes- my cat is my guardian- he is too funny like that.
