Cardiologist appt today...

I had my Cardiologist appt with Dr. Lanna today.

I have a small heart murmur so he has me scheduled to see him again March 20th for an echocardiogram. He doesn't think it's a show-stopper for the surgery. He is sending Dr. P a 'note' stating so.

I am scheduled to have my stress test done at Roger Williams on March 17th.

I see Dr. Lanna for a f/u appt on March 31st at 12:30.

I see Dr. Pohl for the first time on March 31st at 2:30.

I made a goal to have ALL my preliminary appts done PRIOR to my first meeting with Dr. Pohl!

I will have my goal met!!!! Happy Monday!!!

Thats great that you will have all of your tests done by the time you see Dr Pohl. From there it will just be submitting for insurance approval and then scheduling your surgery!!! How exciting! Keep us posted on your progress!

Hope to see you at the next meeting.

Thanks Laura! I'm excited about it. It's a lot of work and well worth it! As I've said before...I'm so impatient! I just hope my surgery date doesn't take forever to come! How long did it take you to get your surgery date from the firs time you saw Dr. Pohl? Anyone else? Jules

Well, to be honest, I am probably not the best example because I took my time with testing. I saw Dr Giovanni in February, did all the tests and then saw her again in September. I went on my "im never going to eat again" kick during those 8 months and successfully GAINED 20 lbs! Dr G told me that she wouldnt schedule surgery until I lost the 20 lbs I had gained, so I did the liquid diet from September 10th - and 3 weeks later, I had lost 23 lbs! I made another appointment and had surgery 3 weeks later. It seems like it takes forever, but in all reality, it goes by so fast! I cant believe I had surgery 4 months ago already!!!

Hey Jules!  I have the heart murmur too.  My doc said it is a Mitral Valve Prolapse.  My mom has it and her mom had it too.  My doc said the same thing, no show stopper.  I go for my echo/stress tomorrow at 3:15.  I'm with you, get those appts DONE before seeing Dr Pohl for the first time.  I am hoping to call there and see if I can get my appt moved up, if I can get my last tests done before this month is up...and it looks like that I will have em all done by the end of next week.  Whoo hoo!!!

Congrats on getting yours done, and being on track with your plans!!  We'll be getting our surgery before we know it!

Woohoo! Congrats Julie, I have a heart murmur too and got the same reply from my cardiologist. It was no big deal and Dr Pohl didnt even seem to flinch with it but I had to have the echo follow up as well. No biggie and it will be over in no time.  Your second appt with Dr Pohl is dependant on a few things. Once you have all your testing completely finished (including the endoscopy) and the insurance approval you'll get a follow up scheduled with Dr Pohl(mine was a week after everything was done). At that follow up he'll go over the surgery again and when you leave you'll get your date if you're in the Johnston office. If you go to E Providence they will call you the following day with your date. Either way, it seems to be about 2 weeks from that appt if you're ok with it being then.  Good Luck and make sure you keep us updated!

Congrats Julie,

I agree with LB, and Angela before you no it you will have your date and be on your way.   I can't believe that in just 2 days I will have mine.  The emotions are rushing in, but I know I am doing the best thing for my health and longevity.

All the best,

Robin
