More Q's... Monday Version.

Happy Monday everyone... Today was tough for me, Monday, had to go back to work after the weekend, losing an hour of sleep...etc. I got up late and hated coming in this morning!

Here are your questions for today:

What was your favorite pre-op food that you cant eat as a post op? Have you created your own recipe to accomodate your craving?

Mine will have to be fish and chips - the old fashioned way...loaded with grease and deep fried (sounds gross to me now).

I have been able make fish (no chips) kind of like the regular ones, I just saute the fish with EVOO on top of the stove and make it nice and crispy. The coating I use is whole grain breadcrumbs and Parmesean cheese...Its delish! I also make my own tartar sauce using FF Mayo and SF Relish.

Please share yours!

You will be able to eat lobster after surgery!!!! (as long as your pouch likes it). I googled the nutrition facts and 1 lobster is 89% protein....cant get much better than that. I think thats what I am going to order next time I am out...lol!

There is nothing I can't eat.  I just can't eat much of it...sometimes only one or two bites.

Well,

I like seafood, but I really won't know what my pouch will tolerate until I am post-op and experimenting.

I am the southerner through and through and for me , I have one food I really really miss. Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. I used to make it all the time on the weekends and yesterday morning I wanted it sooooo bad. I'm afraid I havent come up with a substitute, and I dont think I ever would be able to. Lets disect the ingredients: Flour -  Shortening- Buttermilk Sugar Milk Sausage grease Sausage More flour Lets face it....that couldnt get much worse for a post-op. So, I've had to bid a fond farewell to my usual weekend breakfast. So far my will power has been successful but lord help me when I go to my family reunion in June. tons of southern women with good old fashion southern cooking.

I think we need a 800 support line for emergencies like that.

Hi Marie and welcome to the board!  I've lost 115 lbs so far and I have never felt this good in my life. I've been very fortunate in that I havent really had any complications.  There is the risk of complications, but thats going to be with any surgery. Most anyone you ask will tell you that they dont regret this surgery at all. I know for me ,its been a life saver and I wouldnt change anything! If you're interested there are a lot of us off the RI board who are getting together tomorrow at my house at 5pm for an "unofficial" meeting. We'd love to have you join us, and it would be a great opportunity to talk to a lot of people who have had the surgery and ask any questions you might have. If you're interested, just send me a message and I'll get directions and my info right over to you.  And always feel free to ask any questions you have. There is a great group of people here and a real wealth of knowledge.

Okay, so I won't be able to eat three lobsters in one sitting. Instead, I will, maybe, eat a claw and that's it. At least for a while until I'm able to eat a tail. Mmmmm. I don't even care that I won't be eating butter with it anymore. Thanks! Jule P.S. I love Google! Thanks for your time Laura!

I am going to need to find a WLS friendly version of california sushi rolls.  I think if I make them myself, using brown rice- they may be ok.
