WHY The emotions ? ? ?
Ok here i go i have to say i hear more ppl tell me daily i look soooooo good and they are so proud of me, which makes me feel great. Then i go to weigh in at dr pohls office and see i did not lose a single pound in the last week. The lady in the office said because i lost 80 lbs before surgery i may be hitting a plateau early, I DONT THINK SO, i eat right walk 3 miles and jog .6 in the end. Has this happend to anyone in th early stages i lost 30 lbs after surgery and 4 weeks later nothing it seems weird to me. I am confident once i am allowed to start an aerobics program i have the pounds will keep coming off. So this is to show that everyone is different and loses in thier own way.
It's happened to me at various times. Frustrating, but no big deal. At least it's not increasing!
When this does happened, I remind myself to eat regular meals & drink my water. If I find myself eating too little, weight loss stops. I also try to increase the exercise.
As you lose more, weight loss definitely slows down. However, I've also found that no pounds loss does not always translate into no inches lost. I'm now wearing a blouse that I wore when I was 20 lbs. lighter. Go figure. I believe that this is where the exercise pays off. I know that I have more muscle than I did when I wore the blouse 10 yrs. ago. Muscle weighs more than fat, but also can translate into a decrease in inches.
The average weight loss is about 2 lbs./wk. & that's me. I also was at the minimum body fat requirements & post menopausal which slows metabolism. I reckon the slower loss is easier on my skin & body anyway. Like I said- it's better than gaining!
Good luck! I've lost about 50 lbs. & no one really notices until I point it out. Recently I had to purchase new clothes & get some old ones tailored for etextend use. You're doing great!!
When I was 3 weeks out, I hit a short plateau and believe me, I know how frustrating it was for me! Just know that you didnt gain the weight overnight and you shouldnt expect to lose it overnight either. It is healthier for you to lose it at a good pace rather than too quickly. Its better for your body!
Dont worry, it will come off. Just give it time!

Hi Donnie!
Sometimes the scale doesn't tell it all - try taking measurements - just because the scale doesn't move doesn't mean that you are not loosing. I was weighing myself almost daily and the scale was going up one pound and then the next it would go down 2 etc... I now weigh in once a week. Also you could be putting on more muscle from all the walking and running so take that into consideration too!
BUT you are loosing and keep up the morale cause this being on the loosers bench is a wonderful thing!
As others have said Donnie, you're doing great. I hit a stall at about 3 1/2 weeks out that lasted about 3 weeks and I thought it was going to drive me crazy. But things get back on track quickly. Be patient and talk to your nutritionist about your exercise and see if he/she recommends you up the calories. That is a good possibility.
Good Luck!
HI Donnie,
I also agree with the others. It does happen and it will happen a few more times . One thing that I had learned from others at the RIH meetings was to change up how you are eating. If you tend to eat more or a denser meal in the morning switch that to at night. I tryed this when I hit my first plateu and it worked for me. Good luck and keep your head up your are doing awsome!!!!!
