Hi there- Does anyone remember how long Dr. Pohl stated you could take off of work usually?  My work is very flexible and once approved, i dont want to go bac****il i feel really ready so i was curious if this conversation ever came up with him.  Does he simply ask if you feel good enough to go back or is he pretty standard with writing you out for a month? Thanks

You should discuss it with him. My job required some physical labor and I took 3 weeks off and then I went back to work with a modified workload.  No climbing ladders or heavy lifting etc.

I had Dr Giovanni who works in the same practice as Dr Phol.  Prior to surgery she said for RNY it was usally about a month out of work. When I had my follow up after surgery it came down to how I felt.  It ended up being a month, but it was a mutual decission between me and her on how I felt.   I'm sure Dr Phol will talk to you about this at your appointment prior to surgery. Good luck. Dave

Dr Pohl will give you a slip for 6 weeks, but if you feel like going back earlier you can. I was back at work after 2 1/2 weeks, but could have stayed out the entire 6.  Good Luck!
