Roll Call - Getting to know each other!
TGIF!!! I'm at work today and bored out of my mind! Its really slow so my mind was wondering. I was thinking about the meeting last night and really loved meeting so many new people!
Since meeting on OH, I have met some great people and would like to know a little more about each one of you! I know we did this in the past, please humor me, and we had a great turnout, however, there are many new faces that we need to include this time around!
If we could all write a little about ourselves and what you want others to know about you I think it would be fun to get to know each other a little better.
I'll start: My name is Laura, but I usually go by LB. I am 24 years old, I live in North Providence and I had RNY on October 23rd 2007. So far I have lost 135 lbs and feel great! I have a wonderful boyfriend, Joe and we have been together for over 4 years. We have 4 cats, Shadow, Rocky, Toby and Gizmo. Life has been hectic lately...I have a new job, my position was eliminated. I currently work for Bank of America and am a supervisor for the Premier department. I love reading Jodi Picoult books, horseback riding and spending time with my boyfriend, friends and family. I am an only child and I still live at home with my parents. I hope to get married someday and have children. I am really happy with my life right now and love meeting new people. My friends on OH are one of the best things in my life lately. It is so comforting to know that there are other people out there that are going through the same thing as me and who understand me!
So, take a minute and let us know a little bit about you!

PS. I have my blog link below which I just started but have written in a few times. There is much more info in there about me if you are interested!

Hi all,
I'll share :)
My name is Melissa (or Lissa). I'm waiting on RNY surgery, which will be soon -- I hope! I'm 36 and live in NP (moved about 6 mths ago). I'm not a native to Rhode Island, having been born in VT and then lived various other places (most recently MA). I've been working for almost 7 yrs at a local CU, currently as a trainer to new branch employees. I have a serious addiction to books, mostly fiction and I enjoy scrapbooking, a new hobby as of last year. I have two cats, Rory and Morgan.
I've really appreciated the support and information that I've received from the OH board. You are all amazing people, who have been generous with your time and sharing your experiences. As LB said above... it is a comfort to connect with people who are sharing this life-altering journey.
Hi All!
My name is Danielle and I am 36 years old. I have been married for almost 7 years to a wonderful man. We are have one cat named KitKat and have no kids. I work at APC in Telecommunications but have finished my Masters in HR and am now looking to change careers. I am also a Stampin Up demonstrator and love to share stamping, card making, scrapbooking and paper crafts. I had lapband surgery 2 years ago and am 27lbs away from my goal. This board is great and I love all of you.
Hi everyone!
My name is Cara and I am 50 yrs old, but look and act lots younger.
Or so I've been told. I am hoping to have the Lap Band surgery before the summer, and am trying to get all of my appts done before I see Dr. Pohl in April.
I've been married for almost 14 yrs to my wonderful husband, and we have a 12 yr old son. We also have two cats, Holly Berry and Katy Kat. We live in Cranston. I was raised here, but after graduating HS, I moved to Nashville to go to college. I stayed there for 25 yrs. I had a lot of life while I was there, after all I was in my 20's and 30's there.
I worked as a Systems Analyst for Nissan Motor Manufacturing, among other companies, and after we moved back here to RI, I worked for Fleet and eventually it became Bank of America. When my son started school, I went to part time. But after so many yrs in such a stressful industry, I grew tired of IT, so I went back to school, was certified in Deaf Studies, and I eventually began working for one of my teachers as a research assistant at Women & Infants, also part time. For all intents and purposes I was working full time by working two part time jobs and going to school at nite. Eventually I left the bank, and then a yr later, I left the hospital to start my own business with a Deaf friend, teaching sign language to parents who wanted to sign with their babies. But the timing wasn't right for my partner, and we ended our business relationship to save our friendship. Now, I am mostly a stay-at-home mom, but I also substitute as a language facilitator (interpreter) for a deaf baby at his daycare. I have also designed a website for a Deaf Ministry on the side. I am now back in school to become a Master Gardener, and will begin working this upcoming week in the vegetable green house for URI.
I am really enjoying getting to know everyone here at OH. It's been great to meet so many friendly and genuine people, and I hope to share the rest of my journey with you, as you have and continue to share yours with me.
