All my testing is done (finished bloodwork yesterday- god what a story!!) and I will see Dr Roye on March 14th!!  I guess I will complete my Easter goal!! now the bloodwork story...get to RIH, all the construction and raining, with my very active 5yr old in tow, hoping he will behave for a few minutes while they draw the blood, after fasting since dinner.  We pull into the garage and I guess it is full, because they have us pull all the way through into another garage on the next street over.  Sucks because of the rain, but I can walk a block- much worse for some of the other people they are making do this.  I get the ticket and try and find a spot in this mess with cars everywhere.  Today I am driving the van, hubby's usual ride, rather than my jeep.  No clue why hubby took my jeep today- but ugh!- I hate the van.  A few weeks ago, we think someone backed into the front bumper in a parking lot and broke one of the clips that hold it up, so it was just slightly crooked- but it isn't the newest looking van- so we were mad- but ignored it.  Well- it has been on the road and fine all this 2 weeks- but now, with a stupid drainage grate in a parking garage- decides to give out.  This thing goes to Groton at least 2 times a week- but why now?!?  Why me?>! The driver's side of the bumper is now on top of the tire!!!  I want to cry!!  I manage to pull into a parking space, and decide- I am here- might as well get this done.  On my way in, I call my brother, who owns a repair shop and tow trucks.  He is coming from Burrillville- so I know I have at least a 1/2 hour.  I get the bloodwork done- with only minor grief from Ashton (he saw someone in the lab playing Webkinz on the computer during work and announced it loudly to all).  I go back to the van and realize I am shaking horribly now, probably a combo of the stress, low blood sugar, and all that blood now lying in a lab.  I realize how impossible it is going to be to tow the van from a parking garage and need to get it out of there.  I figure I will just get it onto the street.  Pull out, making ungodly noises from the bumper dragging on the tire, and see there is no where to park.  I remember a Dunkin a block or so away and try and make it there.  I figure the damage is done already- oh well. I get there, and see a Wendy's across the street- way less traffic, better for the tow truck and pull in there.  Go in to get something in my stomach to maybe make me stop shaking.  Get a soda, burger and baked potato and kid's meal for Ashton.  Just then, my brother arrives in the truck- saved!!!  Get in the truck, he hooks the van up and we are off.  I put the bag with the food in it aside for later- I don't want to eat in his truck.  He needs to make a few stops, so it is another hour before we arrive at his shop.  So far, I have just had the soda- but am a bit better.   I chit-chat with his girlfriend about what I will be getting as a loaner (isn't my brother a sweetie! on top of coming right out to get me- I get a free loaner too!!!) and just general bull.  All of a sudden- all my nerve**** me!  I need a bathroom NOW!  His is occupied!  I grab the keys, and book it- home isn't too far (10 min with the pedal to the floor).  Make it home, (thankfully) and then proceded to get chewed on by hubby about the van!!  UGH!!!  (and after all that- my food is still sitting in his truck!!)  My stomach was way too sick to eat at that point anyway!! So that is my ungodly long and bad day yesterday!

Congrats to getting your apponitment. I've been lurking in here a while now but you have given me the courage to post.  I received my approval a few weeks back for the Lap-band and made all my apponitments. They should be complete by the end of March. I have now changed my mind to RYN bypass. How long did it take you to complete all your tests from approval date? I know there are more teats I will have to do with switching the type of bypass. Thanks for your input. Jaime

When was your appointment with the nurse practitoner? I was soooo scared to make a deceision that day so that's why we went for the approval on the band. Now after spending a few weeks on ths board I am very much sure what i want but now i have to wait for approval before I get new list. darn..but I am so relieved i made this decision and a few weeks will not be too bad. Good luck to you. Thanks soo much

Oh Alexia!  So sorry you had an EXTREMELY long day yesterday!  I hate when something so simple turns into what we in my family like to call a "production number".  Poor you!!!!  I hope you got a great loaner to use in the meantime...and in the end, you are done with all your pre-testing now!  Congratulations!!!  I hope you have smooth sailing from this point forward.

RIH parking sucks alone! Never mind all the other crap you had to go through as well! But you made it through AND you're closer to your ultimate goal! Great job!  Happy Wednesday! Jules

oh my...I'm so sorry you had such a day Alexia. Sounds like you were really put through the ringer. Keep in mind though that you're almost at the finish line. It seems like just yesterday we were sitting in Chilis having Margaritas and you hadnt really even started the process yet. WOW...time flies. You'll be on the losers bench in no time now.  So are we going out before you go to surgery?
