I was wondering is it ok to receive communion in church after surgery or should you wait?

Thats a good question! I would give Dr. Pohls office a call on that one!

Let us know what they say.

I did.  I don't ever drink out of the challice because I don't want to catch a cold.  I take the bread and I dip it.  You don't get enough wine to consider it drinking.  Just the taste.

First time I went to church after surgery - I kept a bottle of water in my purse - when I had communion I did take a sip when I got back to the pew which helped it go down.  However, I did notice this past Sunday when I had communion it seemed to feel stuck (of course I did not have that bottle of water with me and sure wished I did) ... I guess it depends on the day. When I was in the hospital after surgery - I had to Eucaristic ministers stop by to offer me communion - the nurse and I both agreed was probably way too soon for something like that. best of luck Donnie! I take it every sunday and have been since surgery.  I just keep it in my mouth until it melts a bit then chew chew chew.  You should not have a problem.  I also drink the wine, (I like the taste of church wine, what can I say)! Jen
