I need help. When does this gas pain go away? When is it reasonable to get decent amounts of fluid in? First bowel movement?

I found the gas was totally gone by day 5.  Try hugging a pillow and rocking back and forth.  It should help.  I think the first BM was around day 3 or 4, very loose, and yucky. Leslie

Welcome home Sara! As leslie said, the gas pains subside within a few days, walk as much as you can, it will help with the pains and forces them out faster. Gas-X has also helped some people, but I didnt really notice any difference with it but defintely did with the walking.  BMs seem to be different for everyone, I had the first one in the hospital and it was pretty normal.I would have some benefiber or something similar available for a while too, I know I needed it in the beginning! Dont worry, it gets so much easier and you'll be so glad you did this before long.
