did anyone happen to see...?
Last night on the 6:30pm NBC News, they were talking about a study done in Austrailia on type 2 diabetes and treating it. They had 60 candidates enrolled and 1/2 of them, though not all with BMI over 40, had the Lap Band surgery done and the other 1/2 were treated with the normal meds and diet normally perscribed. The ones with the surgery had such a big improvement over those with just standard treatment after 2 years. 73% surgery were cured vrs 13% conventional method cured. They also had a Dr talk about the only really effective way to lose 25 or more lbs and keep it off was surgery. I cranked the volume and made hubby listen to it- maybe if he hears someone else say it- he will listen rather than still think I am just being lazy
I did happen to see that and the weird thing is i went to the dentist today and he said there is something in todays projo about the surgery and diabetes. I have heard so many great things about the surgery from different places recently, they all say the same thing bypass or lap band surgery is less risky than dealing with medical problems without it. I opt for the surgery!!!
I wish I had seen it. I had a similar experience today at the nutritionist, we were talking about insulin resistance and how many people are cured after surgery vs how many are cured without.
Its hard for people who arent in our situation to understand, I LOVE my RNY, I finally feel like I'm on the way to a healthy me!
