I am officially at the 1/2 way point...

...of my testing.  Today was my pulmonary function and ABG.  My test results for my pulmonary function were good.  My (OUCH!!!!) ABG results were bad.  I have a pulse that disappears after 15 secs or so, so it was a hard test to do on me.  He left the needle in (and wiggled it- yeowwww!) for I think at least 2 mins or so.  He even then only had about 1/3 of that little vial filled.  He spoke with the person who took the blood and was going to analyze it on whether or not it was going to be acceptable, then said it was all he could get anyway.  Partially because of my nerves and partially because he just couldn't get a good sample in such a long time- the blood results sucked. He had to put an explaination in the notes about the testing process, but he said I still should be fine.  Hope so, because I was a moron and had him do my right wrist- which I still can't move.  Oh well- at least it is over.   Next is psych eval on thursday of next week

Congrats on being 1/2 way.  We may end up having  surgery right around the same time.   Good luck with the rest of your testing

Hi Alexia,

I had trouble with that test too (the ABG).   When he put the novacane in it bubbled so he would not do it.  He used some other device.  he also noted in my chart and said I should let Dr. Ryder know because he never saw that before.  My right wrist was sore for a couple of days.  Needless to say, I am glad he did not take any blood from mt artery.

Glad to hear you are half way through!

Hey Alexia,

I just want to give you props. It was not to long ago that I had to do the pre op testing and couldn't wait to get to where i am today.  Keep trucking...I promise the experiences you will have once the weight starts to come off will be worth the wait.

Hey girl, My ABG was bad too.  No numbing for me though.  Then it was, "don't breathe too fast, dont make a fist, dont hold your breath."  Well come on, this **** hurts and I can not even react.  My results showed that I was hyperventilating...  I still passed though. Jen Congrats on your progress.. Jen
