Hi everyone,  I am having lapband surgery with Dr. Roye.  I have been aprroved by my insurance and won't have to pay anything out of pocket, which I am super excited about.  I have all my tests sceduled and I start with the psych eval tomorrow with Dr. Zimmerman in between the morning and afternoon apppointments I'm going to try to get the xray and ekg done.   (I tried posting yesterday but my post seems to have disapeared?!?)

Questions: What was the psch eval like?  How long did the ekg take? Thanks, Jamie

EKG was super fast the psych eval was exhausting and felt like it took all day.  It was a lot of questions about how you have tried to lose weight in the past.  Why those times failed?  What will be different this time?  Good luck!

Thanks Danielle for replying.  I guess at least I am getting the psych eval out of the way.   How does the process for the sleep study go? I have my first appointment at the end of the month.  I am really hoping to get all my testing done before the end of Feb. so maybe if I am lucky I can have the surgery before my birthday in April.

Welcome Jamie,

My name is Robin and I am at the tale end of my pre-op testing.  Like Danielle said the ekg is quick but the pysch eval is very exhausting (lots and lots of questions).  I will go for my sleep study test tomorrow evening.  I have already been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea they just want to be sure my settings are correct on my CPAP machine.   All the best on this journey.

Robin

Welcome Jamie- I am also a patient of Dr Roye and in just about the same stage of testing as you.  I have done my ekg, chest xray, and upper gi last week.  This thursday is my abg and pulmonary function.  I have my other tests scheduled for this month and next- with the exception of my psych- I have yet to schedule.   ekg and chest xray- longest parts are geting changed or waiting to register.   good luck with your testing and welcome to this great site full of incredible people!

Hey jamie,   Dr. Roye is my doc too. I had Dr. Zimmerman.  Went to the first visit and met with his assistant.  She asked alot of the same questions that you will be answering in the paperwork that you are to fill out before being seen tomorrow.  Questions seem very repetitive.  I guess they ask the same question in different forms to see if they get the same answers.  By the time you go back in the afternoon, she has given her opinion of you to the doctor.  You meet with him, he is very serious and monotone, and he will determine right there if he is approving you.  I got approved and didn't need any other visits.  EKG took 5 mins. Anything esle just ask. Nancy

Thanks everyone,  I did the chest xray, ekg and part one of the psych eval today.  It wasn't as bad as I was picturing,  now I am off to meet with Dr. Zimmerman.   Next monday I have the upper gi scheduled.  First sleep study appointment is the following week, and pulmonary function on 2/11.   I only need to scedule a nutrition appointment.  Who did you all go to?

I dont have Dr Roye as a Dr, so I dont know who he uses. But , I use Peggy O'Neill at Healthway RI and absolutely LOVE her.  More to the point though, I just wanted to say Welcome and Good Luck!
