Dear Jen, You do what you can.  I use the protein bars, too, and I'm still alive.  It helps me get started in the AM when I really have no appetite.  I also bought some textured protein (soy) in Job Lot but often forget to use it.  You can throw small amounts in most anything. Sometimes if I know that I'm low, I'll make some pudding. I also throw in a few nuts for a snack- sometimes twice a day.  I have another snack after dinner & I see that you don't.  Sometimes it's just another tiny helping of the protein course. The purchased protein drinks are just awful.  So I use vanilla/chocolate powder & build a drink from there.  Sometimes I add peanut butter & LOTS of time I add frozen fruit.  Then I use flavorings, water, & milk or soy milk (different flavors)- whatever the pantry has. LOTS of ice, also

I do believe that it's almost impossible initially to fit in all the protein/water.  Our stomachs just won't hold it all. I honestly don't understand how I'm still alive with the small amounts that I eat.  I'm still adjusting to portion size.

So take your supplements & do what you're doing. Are you feeling ok?  I feel better than I did before, no doubt about that.  You also will be able to hold a tad more as you heal.  I know that I can, that's why I now have the 2nd snack. BTW, are you still alive?  Still taking care of 3 kids?  Sounds like you're doing okay.  I just had my blood test & go see my surgeon in 2 wks. so that should prove interesting.  I'm also wondering why RI Hospital took 26 vials of blood (3 sticks) & Newport only took a handful.  Same tests needed. What a relief! Islander Eileen

I am doing great, and so are the kiddo's.  They have been good to me, and were really good kids right after the surgery.  I have joined a gym and go 4x per week.  I about killed myself at an aerobics class on Sat.  It wa probably the funniest thing anyone has ever witnessed.  It was a Hip Hop dancing class (I had no idea what it was when I got there).  You had to see me, I think I laughed through most of the calss.  I could hardly walk yesterday, so I know I did something right. How much are you down now?  Glad to hear you feel better.  What about the CPAP, is it gone yet? I just got some soy nuts yesterday.  They are really yummy, and LOTS of protein. Take Care, jen

Edamame is actually a source of protien I can get my middle son to eat.  He loves it!!  I still have a hard time finding it in my local stores, so I head to Cranston Shaw's- I know I can find it there.

You can buy edamame in the frozen dept.- either with shells or not.  You're right- it's good!  My family doesn't even know it's actually good for them.  It's also a good snack with lots of salt (think popcorn). I lose weight slowly due to my post-menopausal state, but that's been my problem for 18 yrs., hence the extra poundage. I gained 10 lbs. before surgery (various meds that kept being given to me made me sleepy).  So including that weight gain I've lost ?35 lbs. & weigh about 115.  Sometimes a few wks. & nothing, then 5 lbs. departs.  I figure about 10 lbs./month & actually lose a little more.  Right now my pants are falling down & have way too much fabric in them.  I still wear them, but the crotch drop is getting to me! The hip-hop class sounds hilarious. I still have the stupid c-pap but don't use it that much (although I try).  It just drives me crazy. Oh, I passed a kidney stone & just had one blown apart (I hope).  Be VERY careful that you are taking calcium CITRATE.  It's harder to find. I haven't had one for 30 yrs. & 2 show up- Dr. says it's coincidence, but I think not & am taking no more chances.  A kidney stone is AGONY & I now have a strong pain reliever just in case...  I'm happy that everyone is doing so well with a minimum of problems!  I just love this surgery. Oops, slight typo. Sometimes I have difficulty reading the laptop screen. It's 215 NOT 115.  Gee, I'd disappear at that weight. Eileen
