Hi everyone, A few obstacles have come up and I need some info from anyone in RI who can help.  I just met with Dr. Roye for the first time and really liked him a lot.  The only problem I have is I just found out he will do open not lap for my surgery.  I was not planning on that and have some big concerns with the whole process.  He also want s me to talk to a Dr. Saxs(I think I spelled it correctly) at Miriam Hospital  bout this procedure so I will be comfortable with my decision. I may have to switch from Dr. Roye to Dr. Sax so any info is important to me. What I would like to know is does anyone know anything about Dr. Sax or been to him and also if anyone has had open surgery that can tell me anything and everything about that, both good and bad. I need to make some decisions soon and really could use as much information, your experiences and opinions as soon as possible.  Please don't sugar coat anything. Tell it like it is so I can make the best decision for myself.  I am quite nervous about all these changes and decisions I have to make  and at the moment I just don't know what to do I hope to hear from you soon. thanks

Sorry I don't have any info on Dr Sax.  Did he say why he wouldn't do lap?  Have you thought about Dr Pohl or Dr Giovanni?

Hi Sue,

This may help you.  Go to the home page and look under bariatric surgeons and put his name in.   There are approx. 55 testamonials from patients.   I don't know if this will help?  Which procedure are you interested in (Lap or RNY)?

Sue B Dr. Sax must be familiar with your type of situation for Dr. Roye to refer him.  I would meet with him and then make a decision.  There is no rush, take your time making this huge decision.  I am a patient of Dr. Roye's and trust his every move. Nancy

I dont anything either about Dr. Sax, but have you thought of having another doctor...i.e. Dr. David Harrington.  He is located on 2 Dudley Street across from Rhode Island Hospital.  He did mine and also Claudia who posts on here too.  We both like him.   Carol B
