approved today!
I know I should be bouncing off the walls about now- but just too wiped to even think about it. I got a packet in the mail today with all my testing info, scripts for it, etc.
I was going to accept a new job, but now with all this going on- I have no idea what to do. My job would have NO flexibility for me going for the testing. I have a mess going on with a failed home inspection on a house we were hoping to close on, on the 31st- well failed and no way to even test septic till the well is fixed- they would pay a set amount for the well (after the closing)- but the well could be more- even double, and what happens if then the septic is bad?!! Then my middle guys day at Hasbro, and today spent with my oldest at the Dr to find out he has a horrible case of strep and an infected lymphnode. When it rains- it pours!
Anyway- I guess I should be excited, and when the dust finally clears from all this mess- I hope to enjoy it!
Alexia - I think this may help you - just because you have the approval - you don't have to run off to start preliminary work. I got my auth in late February/ early March last year. I too had just bought a house and with so much to do I put things on the back burner. I didn't really do too many of my tests until July and as you know surgery wasn't until 12/6/07. I knew I was committed to this and figured why rush into it. I'm not sure what insurance you have and how long you have to use the auth - that may change things for you as well.
Congrats on the auth!!! wooooooooooo hoooooooooo

Congrats Alexia!!!! I too had a lot of stuff going on this week when I got the approval. My son is very sick also. I have been going back and fourth from Hasbro and Boston Childrens Hospital with him. You just have to take one day at a time. Even if you have to postpone the surgery for a while at least you know you have the approval so you wont be going through all of this for nothing. Best of luck to you and I hope your children are feeling better.
Thanks guys!! Actually today I am better about it. My hubby FINALLY is nearly suppotive of my surgery!!! It turned out that the recovery room nurse at Hasbro is the same nurse who runs the Bariatric program at RIH and the only certified Bariatric nurse in RI. I overheard a snippet of a conversation and jumped in about my quest for surgery and how DH is doubtful of it. The woman Kelly was speaking to, stopped back to speak briefly to my hubby when I stepped out. I don't know what she said- but whatever it is- I am forever greatful to her!!
And Jen- don't worry about her surgery- Andre was only in a 3% of patients this happen to. We are actually still waiting for blood test results to see if it is a genetic bleeding disorder.
Alexia,
That is so wonderful that you finally got your approval and Im so very happy that your husband is becoming supportive of you having the surgery now. Its amazing what talking to someone can do sometimes!
I'm sorry things are so hectic for you, but you have to take things at your own pace and when its time you'll know it. We'll all be here for you whether your surgery is in 2 months or 2 years!
