Hello all,  I haven't been in touch since I switched hospitals. All was going well and I saw the surgeon last week...just waiting for my date which we were planning for after the 1st. My husband's empoyer just informend us that our insurance (the same insurance we have had for 10+ years) is going to have to change as of the 1st. I am freaking out to think that I have made it through all this testing and emotional preperation just to find out this may all be for naught. I guess the worst case scenario is that we will have to pay $2,500 if I wait till it changes. I am witing for the Dr's office to see if they can do the procedure before the end of the year. I don't want to rush things...what do you all think?

We had BC/BS HMO Blue NE. It was going to cover everything. Now we will have a downgrade that will have a deductible that has to be met. Bottom line is money out of pocket I didn't plan on. The other alternative which is to try to rush the process and get it before the insurance changes is a little scary...or am I just making excuses. I am sure all who have had the surgery must have stories of anxiety just before. I guess I will weigh the options when I get an answer from the Dr. as to whether it is even possible to do it that quickly.

I would talk to the Doctors office. If you can do it before the insurance switches over...why not!  I will say this...with every insurance company...there will always be little glitches. I have BC/BS HMO Blue of NE too and I had to pay for my nut and nutritionist appointment out of pocket because I was not allowed to see anyone other then the ones the surgeon requested (who ofcourse did not accept HMO Blue of NE). If you can avoid paying out of pocket...go for it...that's why we pay insurance premiums. Keep in mind, once the insurance switch is made (whether or not you do the surgery before the 1st or after) there can still be alitle unplanned surprises with post op stuff etc. ...just keep that in mind.  Good luck...I hope all goes well.
