Sharing my Lap Band News with friends.

I'm with Jen and Pam. I told a lot of people. The day I finally got my approval I wanted to shout from the roof tops!! I was lucky enough to have the support of my coworkers and friends and family. I told my 5 closest girlfriends and was just going to leave it at that, then I told my parents, brother and sister, because They ought to know. Then I knew I was going on Leave from work, so I told a few people at work. Then it snowballed. Everyone was SO happy for me, and everyone has been so supportive. (I guess I was one of the lucky ones)

I come from an extended family that if you're not a size four, then you're nothing. So I made sure I made some nice comments to them along the lines of "Now I'll be skinny, just the way you like it".

Gossip doesn't bother me. If people feel it completely nessesary to talk a bunch of crap because I'm doing something to help myself so be it. And I know just what to do to make their workload MUCH MORE if need be.

My Advise, Do what you feel would be best for you. Everyone has a different home/work environment. But remember, the more people you have in a support system the better.

If you choose to tell people, and they are negative, just let them know you appreciate their comments, but really don't care to discuss it any further.  If they persist, look at  your watch and give the old "well, look at the time!" and leave.  There is a woman at Fashion Bug who I just love, and I mentioned it to her and she was really upset!  I couldn't believe it.  But I just got real busy with shopping and finished up and left.  It didn't sway me or make my decision any less solid.
