I had my pre-op appointment this past Friday.   All went well with the X-Rays etc.  I was in the X-Ray waiting room, waiting for the OK from the radiologist.  I was listening to a very nice woman whose surgery is scheduled for Dec 12.  I honestly have never seen anyone soooo excited.  She was giving really good advice to a another woman who is just starting her journey.    The thing that really struck me about this woman was her sincerity and her openess.  My surgery date is Dec 14.  I will be thinking about her positive attitude.

That is an awesome story.  I had my pre-op today, and my surgery is Monday.  I can't wait!  I feel like I have been given another chance at life.  I wonder if that woman in the waiting room is one of the OH members here? Good luck on the 14th! Leslie

WOW  Monday!!!!   I bet you are on pins and needles!!!   I hope she is on this site.  I checked by sugery date, but it's hard to tell.  She was wonderful.   Your kids are adorable.  How are they handling your upcoming surgery?   Mine (11 and 14) are a little apprehensive.   They saw what I went thru with my knee surgery.  I would rather give birth, then go thru that again.  ( I had 10 lb babies!!!!).  I'm sure this will be a cake walk.   Dr. Phol reviewed my case before they sent it off for insurance approval.  He is very nice.  I will send you some positive energy Monday morning.  Come back and give an update.   Tina

Hi Tina, I think my kids are pretty cute too!  The 8 year old, Phoebe, is pretty worried.  She can't figure out how she will sleep if I am not home overnight.  I tried to remind her that I was gone for the sleep test for 2 times, but this is different, she knows it and so do I.  I expect Julia, 6, will have a meltdown when she's home with Daddy and he's feeling anxious.  She can feel that in people and gets anxious herself.  Otherwise, this will be fine.  I had them both C-section so I know about abdominal surgery, only this is higher up.  I'm excited!  How is your liquid diet going? You have to check out my profile blog.  It helps to write down what I am feeling.  The one meal is killing me.  I do fine all day long until supper time.  It's been a struggle but it seems to get easier everyday.

I put together a "Have Fun" basket for my kids.  It has the new Spiderman Video, Super Mario brothers game for the Wii, popcorn, pizza gift card and a few goodies for everyone.  I will leave before they do for school.  I have to at the hospital at 6am.  I will leave them breakfast on the table and a snack of their favorite cookies for when they get home from school.  I figure if I leave presents through out the house, they'll be so busy trying to find them all to worry about me.   Your girls will be fine.  Maybe you can give Phoebe your pillow to sleep on for the night, sometimes just having a familiar scent can relax a person.  Daddy will come up with a game plan to keep them busy. You think about you and focus on your health and recovery, everything else will fall into place.
