It's been two weeks since my surgery.  During my first week I had a dream that I was at a BBQ and just when I was about to eat that juicy hotdog I woke up!!!! That's when I realized that yea.....this is for real my life has changed. Now that I'm in my second week, I'm wondering about different food options.  I think I'm all souped out.  If I drink another soup I'll go CRAZY (which I will go crazy cause I'm about to drink some now).  What are some other options of food that you have tried?  I'm just looking for something a little more than soup.   PLEASE HELP!

Why is it that if something says, "do not eat" on the packaging it becomes extra tempting to eat?

I'm only a week out, but I've had the same feelings. I cant tolerate the shakes from the doctors office and Carnations are out of the questions because I got sick on one and found out the hard way I'm lactose intolerant now. I've had several creamed soups and last night I made a scrambled egg which was really good. I know I'm allowed cottage cheese and yogurt at this phase as well, but cant do those because of the milk but they might be good options for you.  Good Luck!!

After my surgery, I did the protein shakes but I was very hungry.  I microwaved a yam and mashed a little of it up with a little salt and tried that bite by bite.  I ate it very slowly.  I think I ate maybe a couple of spoons ful that it was enough.  I also tried a microwaved white potatoe and it was very good too  No butter just a little salt.  Again, only a couple of spoons ful.  I tried eggs, but I could not eat eggs for a long long time.  Try so no fat refried beans.  Just a little at a time.  Everything is trial and error.  I also drank coffee from the time I came home and I found that went down just great.  I could not give that up...I was having coffee withdrawls for a couple days while in the hospital.  Finally on the last day I was given some tea.  That helped with the caffeen.  Yougert is good too. Good Luck and things will get better as time goes by and you will be able to eat different things.  After 18 months I still have some trouble with protein, i.e. chicken, especailly.  Beef sometimes.  Just make sure you take your liquid vitamins.  Carol B
