Hello,  my name is Robin and I am just starting my journey for the weight loss surgery.   I was wondering if anyone has United Healthcare Coverage?  If so, was it difficult to get and approval from them? Thanks, Robin

Hi Robin,  I also have United Health.  I didn't have any trouble getting my surgery approved.  It all depends on your employers plan. Good Luck on a speedy approval.

Welcome to RI OH Robin,  and congratulation on begining you weight loss journey. I dont have United Health coverage but deal with health insurance companies at work, and it all depend on what plan you employer subscribes to. Good luck and Welcome ! Marc

My first visit to Dr. Ryder's office was on 11/8/2007 and she went over everything in detail.   She then suggested I go home and think about my decision to have weight loss surgery and contact her office in two weeks.   I don't  need two weeks to decide whether or not I want the surgery!!! I know if I want to live a long healthy life, the surgery is necessary.   I just called Dr. Ryder's of fice a few minutes ago and  they assistant said she will let Dr. Ryder know and send off for the approval.  Say a pray with me that my approval will go through without  any problems.   

Hi Robin, I'm guessing Dr. Ryder wanted you to take 2 weeks to think about it because she felt some uncertainity in your voice or actions? It's a big step  for anyone and I'm sure she just wants you to be sure and prepared.  I have no experience with your insurance but good luck.
