Gym Membership?
So tonight I will be checking out Planet Fitness on sockanosette (sp?). Does anyone belong? Any critiques? They seem to have the best price in the neighborhood. I also looked at Gold's Gym and Lady of America in the Marshall's plaza on Oaklawn, but didn't get a good vibe. Looking for any suggestions before I put the money down.
all I can offer is, I was not at all big on curves- I was going 5 times a week, for 40 mins at a time, and really didn't feel I was getting a good workout- unless I combined it with walking also at least 3 times a week. The few curves I visited did not have treadmills- so you were on your own as far as walking was concerned. See if you can get a 3 month trial membership- obviously still at a cost, but no huge commitment. In that time you wil know if it is right for you or not. Luckily that is what I did at curves.
Hi Hi!
I did the PF in Cranston, and didn't have the best experience. The parking lot was dark and crowded (Got a broken window and my car sideswiped) and the staff was less than helpful. The equipment was vast, but there were times that I would go and there would be 8 open treadmills, but there were notes that said (Out of Order). This happened more than once. They are under corporate now, so it should be much better.
But I left In July, Planet Fitness just opened a new Facility in Warwick. (Only about 5 minutes away from the one in Cranston) and its really nice. Everything is brand new, they have a circuit training area and TONS of other equipment. The locker rooms are nice, the equipment is all brand new, the parking lot is well lit, the staff is friendly, and weight lifters are not allowed to Grunt!! It's a "judgement free zone" so there is no scale, thats the only downfall thats I've found so far. I do the 19.99 a month plan, but I get unlimited guest privies, unlimited tanning, and 50% cooler beverages.
Golds Gym - Thumbs down, I can't stand meat heads, or pretty boys, or their followers (The girls that wear full make up to the gym)
Lady of america - i went when I was 18, they offered classes and stuff (I liked the classes) but it was kind of "Ehh" to me. Take or leave it sort of thing.
I like co ed gyms, it's nice to people watch. The occasional eye candy is nice too!!!!! Hope this helps.

Hey Danielle,
I belong to Planet Fitness in Cranston. It's was the best price. I pay $10.00 a month but plan on upgrading to the $19.99 so I can bring a friend. I basically get in, do what I need and get out. They have the equipment that I use (threadmill, eliptical, and bikes). I don't need anything fancy. Included in the price was a session with a personal trainer. He put together a program that would guarantee a 10-15 lb weight lose per month. He also told me he has a few lap-band clients. I have yet to start the program, but I am rearing to go. I had elbow surgery and got sidelined.
You can always cancell your contract if you don't care for it. I have that option. When you check it out be sure to ask that.
