hello everyone I am new to this site but have found the comments helpful in my decision for this sugery. I am a patient of Dr Royes and wil be having roux en y 11/15. wow only 15 more days. I started the process in August and just did everything as quickly as possible. I have had some bumps in the road like many of you, sleep apnea.. who knew?  but I am grateful for Dr Royes attention to detail.  I have found a couple of protein products that I beleive to be just great, they dont taste so good, but the impact of not having enough protein scares me (I dont want to experience hair loss)  so, the first is IDS whey protein vials at GNC they come in 3 flavors and 2 and 1/2 ounce vial has 42 grams of protein the second is proteinex 18 - this is available at CVS special order and walgreens special order go through the pharmacy - this packs 18 grams of protein in 1 ounce-  so IM thinking i vial and 1 ounces of proteinex 18 is 60 grams, then I wil choose a shake or drink to supplement as most of these have lots of protein (i found eds chocolate shake at CVS very tasy just make sure they are very cold.... I hope this helps and feel free to write back -  thanks to allof you who have gone before, I am going to be so happy to not have hypertension anymore and stop all my medication... I am ready

HI sridge! Good luck on your upcoming surgery.  I'm in the early stages of getting my tests done for Lap Band but surgery doesn't look to be till next yr since my sleep study follow up isn't till Jan.

Make sure that you are on the cancellation list and that you call and check this often. I wasn't supposed to get in for a long time and ended up getting both done in a week almost a month earlier than expected. East Prov is the best because there are so many beds and it is like a hotel. Big bed, tv, the whole nine. Anyway....good luck with it all.

Hi and welcome You will find everyone on this site very helpful.  I also have Dr. Roye and will be meeting with him today to go over my test results and hopefully get a date. My suggestion to you is keep on top of everything.  Always ask if they have a cancellation list.  I know the sleep study does because both times they called me weeks before my schedule appt to put me in a cancellation spot.  I went to Miriam hospital which I was told was easier to get into. While researching the protein drinks did you by any chance come across liquid protein that has no flavor so you can add it to food?  I checked a few places and can't seem to find any.  Most have just flavorless Whey which still has a taste. Any help would be great.  Just keep on things and be patient the time really does fly by.  Your day will be here before you know it.
