Hello Everyone!!   Ive been wandering around this site for a few days and I absolutely LOVE it.  You guys are so supportive of each other.  I just started all of my testing and consultations and I have an appointment with the surgeon next month. I'm a little nervous about going to the psych consultation tommorow.  I'm afraid I am going to say something that will make them deny me.  Other than that I cant wait to get everything done so I can have my surgery.  If anyone has any tips or advice for me please pass them along........Thanks!

Hi Marisa, Welcome and good luck with you psych consultation tomorrow.  Just be honest and it will go fine. You have a great doctor, she has more than exceeded my exspectations. The other advice I can give you during your testing phase, is to keep track of everything, and keep on it.  Sometimes even though they say they are going to fax something, dosen't mean they do it.  When I was set with my tests and insurance I found that not all my results had been sent to the surgeons office.  So I had to call them to have them faxed over.  And in some cases it took a few calls! Again, welcome and if you have any questions just post it here, you will get great advise. dave

Hi Marisa,  The way you're feeling about the psych consult is normal. I think just about everyone has had the same fear, but as Dave said just honest honestly and try to relax as much as you can. The only reason they would deny you would be if there were something you needed to work on prior to surgery and if that did happen it would only be because it would be the best thing for you.  I seriously doubt that will be the issue and you'll be fine and laugh about it when its over.  Good Luck and welcome to the board!

Good luck during your journey.  Remember, we are all here for you if you need us.  This is a great board, very supportive.  Keep us posted, and like Dave said, keep up on all your testing.  I would keep a journal.  I didn't, but wish I did.  Write down everyone you speak to and all the testing dates.  It will be a great tool if you need it.

Take care,

jen

Hi Marisa! First of all, welcome and good luck on your journey! You have a WONDERFUL surgeon, I just has my Lap RNY this past Tuesday 10/23 and Dr G was great! She came to visit every morning (I was in the hospital 3 nights) and she is so encouraging! It will be a long journey, but it is SO worth it!

Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress!
