Why is it? Can anyone tell me?

Hello, I am 3.5 weeks post-op and it seems that everything tha I eat seems to "be with me" for a couple of hours. There is not a lot of pain but just discomfort. It doesn't matter if it is soft foods that I have eaten before or something new that I am trying. I hate the feeling and am hoping it goes away soon. Any thoughts? Tracy

Hello, Same Dr., I am almost 1 mo. out (tomorrow). I have this problem sometimes.  I find it is when I have eaten too much.  It's hard to figure out what a portion size is at this point.  I usually lose the feeling in ? 30 min. plus.  Until then all I want to do is lay down & sleep.  Trying to walk it off also seems to help. I would describe the feeling just as you did - discomfort.  Yesterday I had half a cup of chower & 1/2 grilled cheese w/tomato - ditched 1 sliced of bread.  Way too much.  You could try eating less, but somewhat more often & see if that helps.  Maybe 5-6 small meals/day instead of 3.  I agree, it takes some getting used to. Hope this helps. Islander

Hi Tracy, take smaller bites and eat slower.  You will find that you can almost feel the food going down if you think about it.  Wait until that happens before you take your next bite.  Good luck!!
