Thank you all for not telling me about that ABG test.  (Arterial Blood Gas).  The man said, "I am not going to lie to you, this is going to hurt."  I knew I was in for it then.  HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It hurt like hell.  My wrist is still hurting now.  Then off to the lab i went to have 25 yes I said 25 vials of blood taken.  Wow, you all were not kidding.  They said I set the record at Newport Hospital.  I had the PFT test done and I think that man made me sick.  I felt fine going in, then from all the heavy breathing, I got some sort of Bronchitis-SP.  He gave me a treatment and I did feel better, now I have a cough.  I feel like I have been run through the mill.  I need  a nap. Take Care, Jen 2nd part of stress test tomorrow, and I can call Dr. Roye for an appt.  How long does it take you to get in to see him.

OH NO! I must have missed the post about the ABG test. Is it part of the pre-surgery testing? So sorry you had a painful test Jen,but at least its over and you're one step closer.  Good luck on your next visit, hopefully you will get a date soon!

ABG hurts? Do they give you a list of what each vial is for? Inquiring minds want to know! You made the last hurdle Jen... this is it, next stop, surgery. Congrats!

Hi Jen,

Sorry to hear your ABG test was so painful.  I had heard it was extremly painful so needless to say I wasn't looking forward to it.  I had mine done at RI Hospital and the person who did it injected a numbing serum in the area first and I didn't feel a thing.  I was so glad he did because when I looked at the area he took blood he had tried 5 times to get some before he finally did.  I have my last test the 17th to discuss my sleep study.  After that I can make an appt with Dr. Roye.  I'll let you know how soon I get it.  Post how soon you get yours .

Wow, you got me nervous. I had to have one some years back and it did hurt a lot. I was dreding having it , I was supposed to have it Monday. When I switched surgeons and hospitals they told me I didn't need it unless I had asthma or resperatory problems. I was so relieved I can't tell you.
