Had my psych eval today.  What a long day.  Wasn't as bad as I expected.  The Doctor was a little intimidating she had no personality but her visit was only 30 minutes Thank God.  I couldn't do the 2 hours with her.  She cleared me for surgery. Now I only have my sleep study f/u visit with the NP on Oct. 10th and blood work and I'm done.  Did anyone have to go back for a second sleep study?  If so what was the reason they gave you?  I don't have to go back just curious. Anyone think I should call and make my f/u appt. with Dr. Roye? I know it takes a while to see him. Anyone else do that?

They will not let you make the appointment until ALL the tests are done.  Believe me, I am trying.  My hubby might be deploying, and I want to get in before he leaves.  They wont make the appointment untill I am complete.  I only have a couple of tests left.  I hear he is booking into the end of Oct. Good luck, let me know if you get an appt. early. Jen

Hi fogo72, I had my sleep study done at Miriam Hospital.  I had one done Aug 21st and I just had my 2nd done 9-25.  The first one showed sleep apnea so the second one was to have you sleep with one of the c-pap machines so they can see how you adjust and try to figure out what level of oxygen you need to stop the apnea. I picked the newest one which is similar to the oxygen they put in your nose with the two small prongs versus the mask that covers your nose/and or mouth.  It's awkward to sleep with but the person there said I took to it very well.  After trying the other two I thought this was the least evasive and less stuff on my face.  I also asked for the chin strap just incase my mouth decided to open.  If that happens it can ruin the results and A- you might have to come back again or B-they put you in a full nose and mouth mask which I know I couldn't tolerate.  It worked with the shin strap. He also said with WLS they usually have you get used to it for a couple of months so they can use it on you in the hospital.  After that he said I won't need it.  I have my last follow up Oct 17th to go over all the results from the sleep study and I'm ready to call Dr. Roye for an appt.  All my tests took 6 weeks.  So far so good.

I know this is a lot of info so I hope it helps you or someone else.

Thanks Sue.  I tried all those masks on my first visit in case I needed it during the night but I guess not because they never had me wear it .   They told me I didn't need a second appointment.  But I don't want to assume I don't have sleep apnea.

I call that mask the "Gecko Eyes" and I have it. I have been wearing that every single night, wake with stupid things imprinted on the side of my face, raw nose (yes, with lube too!) and have those marks on my face going to work! HOW EMBARRASSING!!! Does anyone in that field ever consider people's esteem when it's already ROCK BOTTOM?
