I've been hoping to get in earlier to see Dr Pohl on a cancellation and I got lucky today. I am going to see him on Monday and I cant wait! Since all of my tests are complete I'm really hoping to get things moving quickly at this point, but what should I expect to happen at this appointment? My husband is also interested in going to the appointment with me, Does anyone know if that is ok? I dont really see it being an issue, but thought I'd see if anyone had any experience with it.

I talked to him after the seminar and I have to agree with you. I knew I wanted him to be my surgeon after reading about him and talking to him. I'm really looking forward to my appt with him on Monday

Hi Angela, Glad you were able to get in for an appointment.  As far as the appointment, I had mine with Dr Giovanni, who works with Dr Phol.  At my first appointment she went through the whole procedure again, took a medical and diet history, did an exam, and answered any questions.  Since you have all your test done, I'm not sure if you will need a second appointment or if this will be it.  Did you have the EDG?  If not he may send you for that and have you come back in.

As far as your husband going, I think that will be ok.  When I met with Dr Giovanni, she recommended that at my next appoinment (still had tests to do) to have someone come with me.  That way someone knows what is going on and what to exspect.   Good Luck.

ps I'll be at the office on Monday also as I have my post surgery follow-up.

Wow....what time are you going David? I'll be there at 1:30, maybe we'll meet in passing. The EDG is the only test I havent done yet. All of the others have been done and I've passed. The only real problem is that my Gall Bladder is full of stones, so I'll be talking to Dr Pohl about that tomorrow.  BTW, congrats on your l;oss since surgery!

It should be fine for your husband to do with you.  Bring your packet that you got at the seminar and check off all the tests you have had done.  Also if you have any documentation on any weight loss you have had in the past that would be good, but not necessary.  He will discuss what procedure you are considering and talk about why you are considering one over the other.  If you are thinking the band, he will go get one and show it to you. Good luck!

Thanks for the info Danielle! I'm leaning toward bypass personally, though I'm open to what Dr Pohl recommends.
