4 weeks post-op;not losing weight

Hi everyone, I am 4 weeks post op and lost 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks(yipee!!) However, in the last 2 weeks I've haven't lost anything.  I walk 2 miles atleast 3 day a week, I get all my protein in and granted I could drink more water ( I consume roughly 40+oz.daily).  So, am I the first person that gastric bypass surgery isn't working for?  I thought the pounds were just supposed to melt off the first few months?  Should I call my doctor or am I over reacting?  Has this happened to anyone so soon after surgery?  I'm getting desperate here. Thanks ahead of time,  Landa

Hi Landa, I experienced the same thing.  I had a stall for about 21/2 weeks and just started losing again this week.  Getting all the water in may help. Are you getting in enough calories?

HI Emelie, I'm think I'm getting in enough calories atleast 500 right?  I've uped my protein goals, I'm now aiming for 70 grams and 60 is my goal for liquids.   How much have you lost since surgery?

Hi Yolanda, So glad to hear from you, I've been wondering how you did with your surgery. I went through the same thing, the first few weeks I was really frustrated because I thought I should be losing faster, but it did pick up eventually. Try to get in more fluids (easier said than done, I know) and keep up on your protein and exercise, and it will happen! Promise! Krista PS Have you taken measurements at all? You might find that you are losing inches if not pounds. HTH!

Hi Krista, It's great to hear from you.  I remember I used to get so excited when you used to come to group.  Do you still go?  I haven't been since before surgery.  I'm hoping I can make it tomorrow.   I haven't taken any measurements but I can feel that my clothes fit me looser.  And I can now snuggly fit into a size 16 pair of jeans that I used to wear before I gained 20lbs to qualify for surgery.  I know that was a crazy thing to do but I don't regret it.  My body has always been comfortable at 240.  No matter how much I dieted and lost, my body always goes back to 240 and I guess that's why I'm so freaked that once I got back to this weight is when I stopped losing.  I am now about 5 weeks out and no loss for 3 weeks.  Did it take you this long?

Everyone loses at their own rate.  Be patient, your body is adjusting to the huge changes.  Just keep doing what you are supposed to.   Good luck. Elizabeth
