hi- I'm Beth (but Lexi works too, long story- hence the member name)  I was led to this website from a link from double link from the lapband site about Mohamed Ali's daughter and I am THRILLED to have found it.  I love being able to speak to people in all phases of this and get a real idea of what it is like- esp local people!! I am hoping to have the lapband surgery, but haven't ruled anything out.  I was supposed to attend Dr. Pohl's seminar tom. night, but unfortunately can't, but hope to be at the next one in October.  I am a 34 yr old married mom of 3 boys, 14, 7, and 4.  My husband and I breed and show Siberian Huskies, and for the last year and a half, I have been a field researcher in the area of child behavior and developement (ummmm- ok, you caught me- just a stay at home mom.  I used to work in the auto business as a warranty administrator, and am just starting my hunt again for a job- wish me luck!  I am sooo glad to have the chance to chat with you all!!  I think the local forums are great!!  And OMG!!!  Congrats- the weight loss, recent happenings, so many positive things happening in people's lives!

Hi Everyone, I'm Lauren.  I'm 25 years old.  I've been married for 1 month shy of 2 years to a great guy named Steve!!  I'm planning on Lap Band.  I've finally gotten my follow up appointment with dr. giovanni October 1st.  Hopefully I'll get a date then!  I'm very excited and I'm glad that it's almost my time. I am finally doing something for myself.   When I started my journey. I wanted to scream from the roof tops, and now, I don't care who knows.  It's my body, life and choice.  If you don't like it, plllllllllllllthhhhhhh to you.  :)   That being said, I like to think I have a pretty out going personality, I love to meet new people, I love to laugh and make people laugh, I like long walks on the beach...oh wait...this isn't eHarmony!!!  LOL  I send congratulations to all of those who have, made the choice to pursure this life altering procedure, those that have already had the procedure, those that are working towards their goal, and those that have met their goal.  Kudos to you!!!

Hi, my name is Deb, I am 50 years old and had surgery about 5 weeks ago, lap band with Dr. Giovanni.  I have been overweight all my life and to this day remember that I weighed 130 in the third grade (would love to weigh 130 now!).  I started out at 233 and lost 10 lbs on the preop liquid diet.  I am now down to 209, can't wait to get to the 100s.   I have 3 daughters, 18, 16 and 13.  The oldest just went off to RIC to begin to get her nursing degree.  I live in Exeter and work as the Executive Assistant at a home care agency in Narragansett, I have been here for 17 years.  I have a boyfriend of 4 years, who is skinny as a rail.  I should have know when he said sushi was his most favorite food that I was in trouble!  We get along great, but he just cannot grasp the concept of weight loss, being fat, and most of all weight loss surgery.  He is a great guy and does his best to be supportive. I am back to Dr. Giovanni in a week and will probably be going on regular food.  I am looking forward to it but nervous at the same time.  Nice meeting all of you!  Deb

Hello Krista     My name is Dawn. I'm a native to Rhode Island, was brought up in Cumberland for most of my life and have resided in North Providence for the last 9 yrs. I'm 45 yrs old.  (UHHG!) I am married to Tim (second marriage) and have 2 from my first marriage and 2 step children from this one ages being 21, 19, 18, 16.  (ARGH!)  LOL   I am considered a professional driver, which is my job, to drive. I would like to change my career and become a Phlebotomist.  I am also a Paranormal Investigator. I am the President/Founder of Four Seasons Paranormal New England in which I travel all over New England investigating and researching along with helping people with possible paranormal phenomena. I do not charge the client what so ever.    I have been working on getting my RNY since June 20th and have been denied even though I am 100% covered. Have a advocate handling this issue now, and I'm not sure where I stand. I hope to at least be approved by November, because I have been getting depressed over this weight and now all the bull I've been getting put through. I have two more tests to do, and it wasn't even the surgeon (Dr. Roye) that issued them. My PCP has been at my side helping me obtain all my appointments. My boss at work is ready to fire me because I have to keep seeing doctors and she has no clue why and don't wish her to know. I just recently handed in a letter from my PCP stating its medically necessary for my over all health to make these appt's. I'm on the CPAP (CRAP) machine and hate it!!!!!!!! Waking up almost every morning with banging headaches! Does the place care? NOOOOO they say it must be something else giving me headaches and not the CPAP. Not sleeping with it on either!    I am a strong believer in the support group! I will go no matter what takes place and will continue to support my co-losers in this happy or crappy endeavor. There was supposed to be something at the last meeting for everyone but because of the Plastic Surgeon and the length of the meeting... it has been postponed until the next one.    I feel I have gained a few friends that really do care and some that truly do not, some are most supportive and some ignore. Overall, OH is a great place and will continue to come. Best of luck to all in Pre-Op with surgeries coming up! Phenomenal job to those in Post-Op! Best Regards, ~Dawn

Hello Everyone!  I'm new to this site.  My name is Deb, 43, living with John, my signifcant other, have two children and three stepchildren, the youngest being 15 who is the only child living with us.  I work full itme in an office and have the butt to prove it!  I am in the process of trying to get the band but found out it is excluded.  Want the surgery badly enough, that I've made the appt. with Dr. Pohl and am trying to find supplemental insurance or another individual health insurance plan that will cover me.  Anyone know of any?  BCBS and United Healthcare (I have now) will not sell me policy since I have it through employer.  Not sure if I should have the tests prior to first appt with Dr. Pohl if I cannot find insurance to cover surgery...thankful to have found this site and happy to meet all of you! Deb
