Hi everyone,   I haven't been on in a while.  Can you tell school started.  All the paperwork and releases you have to sigh X3.  My home closing was easier.  I'm looking ahead.  I have my sleep consult tomorrow and my PFT on Thursday.   Then I have to wait for my Psych eval at the end of the month.  Time is passing faster now that I'm busy with the kids.   Anyone know how long the sleep consult takes and the PFTs ?  I'm using my lunch hour and going in late for the other.

Hi Fogo!    I just did my PFT last week. It takes approx. 30-45 minutes... it truely depends on the individual. It's not a horrendous deal... it's one of the more simpler ones. Sleep Consult... 20 minutes tops! They just go over general info and look in your throat... well, thats all I had done anyways. Good Luck!

Yeah, 20 min.  But there was a wait to get in.  Tell them you have a deadline.  You might even call ahead. Good luck! Islander

Had my sleep consult today.  Arrived at my appointment 15 early to get all paper work out of the way. The  pt  scheduled after before me arrived 15 late and stayed for 45 minutes.  I wanted to scream.  I swear my appointment took about 15 minutes if that.  Why can't they just order the sleep study for all gastric patients .  They seem to have their mind made up anyway.  They start by saying that majority of overweight people have sleep apnea. So why go through all the hoops.  Here's the kicker  my sleep study is scheduled for Sept. 17 which is pretty quick.  But if I have apnea I return the following week for 2nd study.  Then 3 weeks after that I have to go for a f/u with the NP.  So I thought that I would be done with my testings at the end of Sept.  No going to mid October.  I know they have their reasons and believe me I don't want any shortcuts when it comes to Surgery but it seems like they just want to squeeze as much out of the insurance that they can.  Sorry had to Vent.

i know it seems like forever, but believe me, it will pass more quickly than you think.  i started the process in april and i now have my surgery date for 9-17-07.  had lost 15 # between my first appointment with dr ryder and second.  i'm a little anxious, but also excited.  going to try to put in a picture and ticker when i get home tonight.  wish me luck.  it was great to meet so many people at the support group last night.  hope i'll make the october meeting,  meanwhile i'll try to keep posting. caroline
