Newport Hospital -Sleep Study question

I went to Newport hospital on Saturday night for my sleep study and I'm just wondering how long it took everyone to get their results? When I asked the hospital they said 2 weeks and they would send it to my doctor, but I see posts where people have gone to Newport hospital and had results in a couple days and they've called them.  Any idea if I should expect a call or if I'll have to wait several weeks to see my PCP again? I dont see my PCP again until the end of October and I'm sooo close to the end of my tests, I only have the cardiology consult (next Friday) and then the EGD which Dr Pohl will schedule apparently and I'm  done! Id hate to see the process stall after getting this far!

Dear Angela, They told me the sleep center would call in a few days with my results & they did, but I had made my appointment through them & not my pcp.  I had apnea.  I then had to wait until my sleep consult to have the detailed results & then my equipment was ordered. Since you are working through your PCP, I'm not sure how it will work.   The technician did not give you any idea of whether you had apnea or not?  You may just have to wait.  It's a slow process, doubless. Good luck!

my follow-up is with my PCP so I guess thats the difference. I'll just wait a few days and then call my PCP I guess.  Unfortunately the tech did not give me any idea, but then I guess I really didnt expect him to.

They called me about 3 days later with the results.  I did not have apnea so I was cleared..  YEAH! Jen

Thats great Jen, I hope I get as lucky. I'm really not looking forward to the possibility of the cpap machine, something about sleeping with something on my head!

Hi Angela,    Thats the way I feel. Like nothing on my head or face unless its meant to be there. I received my cpap machine last night. it seems a bit less constricting than the one in the treatment from SS. I did not go to Newport Hospital for my study, but no matter what they say... 2 weeks, 1 week, etc.  Just give them a call on Friday, directly. You can at least try.  My place talked to me about it over the phone, in just two days,  didn't matter that my pcp ordered it.  Good Luck!

Thanks  Dawn! I think you're right and I will call them on Friday and see if I can get some kind of answer.  Are you able to use your machine? I imagine it would take quite a bit of getting used to. They never came in and put anything on me, so maybe I wont need one. Heres hoping!

Gee, Angela, maybe you'll be lucky.  You'll either be told you don't have it or you need to come back for testing with the machine. I don't like it, but doggone it, it works. Yeah, it takes awhile to get used to.  Had to change masks.  I also requested some sleeping pills that I use when I am desperate. Islander

My first night was last night on Cpap... I hate it! I know I'm not the first one too but I slept better without it! I had a anxiety attack last night because it just doesn't work the way the one at sleep study worked.  No matter how much adjusting I did to make it snug, it just didn't work... an hour and a half later, had to lay very still, because one slip meant hell. Woke up several times and now my neck and shoulder are pulled. Happy Camper? Not a chance.  I don't know what I can do about it.
