Hi Jen, My husband also has terrible apnea, although he is really good about not taking off his mask, sleeps like a baby with it. Amazing! I hate the thing and haven't worn it since my surgery a year ago. I'm hoping the weight I've lost has resolved most of the issue. I also have a brother who uses a CPAP and another who needs to use one, but won't. Anyway, I happened to see an article in the Providence Women's Journal Aug/Sept issue about apnea. Apparently they now have a minimally invasive surgery that's far less radical than the removal of tissue at the back of the throat (my older brother went through the throat surgery) They call it the Pillar Procedure. They insert three polyester implants into the soft palate under only local anesthesia. They give the following website www.restoremedical.com
