Pulmonary Function Test. It's where they have you breathing into a tube to find out what your lung capacity is and how much it holds.  Also it tests the pressure you can give and receive.  Not in Medical terminology, but its the gist of it! LOL

Thanks Danielle.    Turns out that I have Moderate Sleep Apnea.  Not exactly thrilled about what I have to do. Hate things in my face, and they want me to wear that contraption! At least the insurance is covering it for a year.  OH BOY!   My PFT went extremely well.

Wow, Are there any other options other than the CPAP.  Can you have surgery or anything.  I ask because my husband has it pretty bad and can't wear the CPAP (pulls it off all through the night w/out knowing it).  He wants surgery or one of the new mouth guards they have.  I was not sure if that was an option for you. Hi Jen, My husband also has terrible apnea, although he is really good about not taking off his mask, sleeps like a baby with it. Amazing! I hate the thing and haven't worn it since my surgery a year ago. I'm hoping the weight I've lost has resolved most of the issue.  I also have a brother who uses a CPAP and another who needs to use one, but won't.  Anyway, I happened to see an article in the Providence Women's Journal Aug/Sept issue about apnea. Apparently they now have a minimally invasive surgery that's far less radical than the removal of tissue at the back of the throat (my older brother went through the throat surgery) They call it the Pillar Procedure. They insert three polyester implants into the soft palate under only local anesthesia. They give the following website www.restoremedical.com

Woot Woot! My Advocate didn't just want the letter from PCP, she wanted a copy of the Apnea Results, which Dr. Fine stated in his letter that I had. I faxed the preliminary results (has diagnosis and signed by Doc) over on Friday and the final report will be typed up by Tuesday, if the prelim is not satisfactory enough for them. Getting there! When she has this, that means she calls over and clarifies that said documents they (Ins.) asked for have been submitted. Then hopefully the approval comes right after that.
