Gallbladder Ultrasound..
Hi Dawn, I had my Gallbladder US last week and I know in the seminar for Dr Pohl and Dr Giovanni they said they require it for both because you can have problems due to rapid weight loss. Probably just as well. The ultrasound technician told me my Gallbladder is packed with stones so I'd just assume have it removed during the surgery and get it out of the way rather than be in pain later!
Hey Dawn, Do you have any kids. The worst thing I think is being pregnant and having to drink all tha****er before the appt. Then they have the nerve to tell a pregnant lady she can't pee, that is insane!!! How are you not going to pee when they are pushing on your tummy and your bladder is full. With my first, they made me get off the table 3 time during mine because you could see my bladder filling up. It was SOOOOOO WIERD!!!!!
Anyway, good luck with that. Do you know if they automatically take out the GB if you have stones. That would be a hell of a thing if they left it in and then had to go back a few months later to take it out. I think they should routinely take it anyway. I know so many people that have had issues after surgery because of dramatic weight loss. Save us some time in the hospital, just take it.....
Have a great night,
Jen
Dear Jen,
The ultrasound was awful when you were pregnant. When they told me to "wait" while they checked the results, they put me in the bathroom. I finally couldn't stand it anymore & just went. That was beyond cruelty.
You know the only reason they want your bladder full is to use it as a marker to find all the other organs. A technician friend told me that if they couldn't find my baby late in the pregnancy, they were lousy at their job. So I just told them that I did all my drinking when I hadn't. One time it worked, one time it didn't.
I, too, have a gall stone. The gall bladder MAY be taken out. It depends on how the main surgery goes. They don't like to keep you on the operating table any longer than absolutely necessary. So it's an iffy. You need to ask your surgeon about it, although he/she will likely bring it up.

my first pregnancy ultrasound they told me the wrong amount of water to drink- I drank a whole 2 liter bottle in an hour, an hour before I went for the test. Not only did the sheer amount of water I had to drink make me sick after, but i was way too full. They told me to go let out "just a little". Ok- that is just mean! make me park a block away and walk- nearly squeezing my legs together and doing the pee-pee dance the whole way, make me sit in a waiting room for 10 min, put ice cold stuff near my bladder and apply pressure and then.....just go a little! Learned my lesson after that how much was "the right amount" of water for me.
