I just had to share.....
Finally!! All my tests are over or scheduled.
I've had the gall bladder Ultrasound (I have a gall bladder filled with stones so I guess it will be going away!)
I passed the psych!
I've been to the dietary consult and that went well!
My PCP is writing a letter recommending the surgery this week
I've got the sleep test (overnight) next weekend
Cardiology Consult is scheduled for the 14th of Sept.
and (drumroll...) I see Dr Pohl on Oct 29. ( I was really hoping to get in sooner)
Looks like I'll meet my goal of having all my tests complete before meeting with Dr Pohl!!
During the whole process I've found out I'm Insulin Resistant, so I started Metformin today, but thats ok...Nothing can dampen my spirits! I'm hoping when I go in to see Dr Pohl I can get a surgery date before the end of the year.
Oh! and today the Dr informed me I've lost 16 pounds since my last appt following the dieticians advice. Wow...what a day!
Dear Angela,
Wow, you may not think so, but that was quick! Sure sounds like the surgery will be this year. This is good news,& I'm just delighted for you! Why the process here takes so long is amazing, since this surgery is good for all of us. I think that they should even lower the weight/BMI requirements. I also have a gall stone which explains those phantom pains I used to get for a few hours. It may/may not be taken out depending on how the surgery goes. I am having my hiatal hernia fixed - imagine, indigestion for 40 yrs! Hint for sleep test - take your own pillow & take something to make you sleep. Good luck! Islander
Thanks Islander,
I'm a little concerned about being able to sleep at the sleep study because I am an extremely light sleeper, and besides that I sleep on my stomach. But I'm sure it will be fine. Cardiology consult shouldnt be any problem, so I'm doing well. Almost at the end.
Indigestion for 40 years! oh my, that doesnt sound pleasant. Hopefully your surgery will help aleviate that. Good Luck!
Hi Angela,
I was concerned about sleeping at the sleep clinic too. I am not the heaviest sleeper, and the thought of all those wires drove me nuts. It was really not as bad as I thought. I brought my own pillow and watched TV until I was drowsey. I did not sleep that great, but then again, I usually don't. Good luck with the rest of this adventure. I am right behind you. All of my pre-approval testing will be done by the the first week of Sept. and hopefully the approval will be shortly after that.
Take Care,
Jen
