I don't know much about the pre surgery weight loss, but could you ask your PCP for a script for a diet drug?  What about that new ALI.  I am trying on my own to loose 20 lbs. before surgery.  I have been writing down everything I eat.  You would be surprised how much you can loose just by doing that. Good luck!  I would like to see what others have to say. Jen

Slimfast has alot of Sugar which equals Carbs.  I lost alot of weight with the South Beach Diet You have to have Breakfast.  Eggs and Canadian bacon.  Keeps you full till Lunch.  Eat a snack at10am. usually have a piece of cheese(Mozz. sticks are good) or cottage chees snack pack.  Lunch have a Salad and Sugar Free Jello for dessert.  You will need a snack about 3pm.  Lunchmeat eat roll up.  Dinner you can have lean meat, fish or chicken with a small salad.  This worked for me.  I'm currently on this regimen trying to lose some weight before surgery.   I'm not required to lose weight but I would like to a head start and be healthier for the surgery.   Stay away from bread, surgar .  The EAS Carb control shakes are good and doesn't have alot of sugar. Hope this helps

I didn't have a set goal to loose, but they wanted me to start changing my habits.  I was also sent to Dr Messier's group for wls, so that helped a lot.  What I did was to really work on changing my bad habits, like binge eating and stopping i****ching my intake at meals, eating more healthier meals, and exercising.  In 3 months I had lost 18 lbs, which my surgeon was very pleased with. I think the advise of a food journal is great.  You may also want to get help from friends and family, is there someone you know who is dieting?  It sometimes helps to have a buddy. Hope you do well. Dave

You might think about Weigh****chers. I joined a few years ago and lost 115 lbs. It works well the problem was I stoped going to meetings, went back to my old bad eating habits and put the weight back on that what brought me to the Lap Band. I want to join again to get myself back on track. Why do they want you to loose 30 - 40 lbs prior to surgery ? Good Luck  Marc

Your story sounds exactly like mine.  I lost over 100 pounds with weigh****chers,  I think it's a great program.  When I started to put back on weight I knew I needed help to keep it off long term.
