Support Groups In Little Rhodey

Good afternoon All!!   I'm wondering if there are any support groups in Rhode Island that meet weekly/monthly.  I haven't yet had my surgery but I would love to meet people who already have.  Maybe find a mentor or two who may be willing to take me under their wing.  This is all new to me as it was for many of you, and I have questions all the time, but noone to ask.  Thanks for reading and I hope to hear back!! ~Lauren

Hi Lauren, This board is a good place to start. There are monthly meetings every first Wednesday of the month at the Gerry House at Rhode Island Hospital.  Here's the link http://www.lifespan.org/services/support/gastric_bypass.htm I also believe that one of the members who lives in Warwick has monthly meetings at her house, her name is Donna, but I'm not sure of her last name, I believe it begins with an F. You could probably look back through last month's posts, she usually posts a reminder about her meetings. Also, whenever you have questions, post em. Either here or on the main message board, sometimes the main board will give you a larger response group, and often quicker. Pam

Welcome Lauren, A group of us were also walking on Saturday am at Roger Williams park on Saturdays.  Although I think the summer fun has disbanded the group a bit.  I intend on starting back up starting August 25th.  What surgery were you considering?

I'm considering Lap-Band.  Just waiting for that good ole approval!  Yeah, I noticed the post about the walk a couple of weeks ago.  I'll keep an eye out!
